Dragon Quest X was announced for Wii back in 2008, but Square Enix has said little about the title other than it is in development. With Wii U coming next year, an investor asked about releasing the highly anticipated game on Wii when next generation hardware is on the horizon.

Square Enix said they have to consider making Dragon Quest X compatible with Wii and Wii U. Wii U, as announced at E3, is backwards compatible with Wii game.

One of the company’s executive staff added, Square Enix is in the technical investigation phase when it comes to Wii U. The company is also examining whether to support Wii U with a launch title.

Ugh, poor DQ. Fall victim to nintendo's gimmick shitstorm and died.
I'm afraid this is what in store for FF in the near future - death by the wii...
 
Kind of weird that Square Enix devolped Dragon Quest X and Type-0 to be released at the end of their systems life cycle.
Either way, this is good news, the touch screen will be great for inventory and maps, and the graphics in HD would sure be slick.
 
This is going to be good. I love Dragon Quest IX even though I have not finished it yet. Dragon Quest X on WII U will sure be nice. The HD graphics and all. Although, they should just make it exclusive to WII U... but then again most people will still have WII's so I can totally understand that. If I were to choose though, I would buy it for WII U if there are other launch titles that satisfy me. So far... smash bros is having me really excited since they announced a new one.. but did not say much. I am al for this.. since I liked DQ IX.
