Square Enix's 3DS RPG Bravely Default Flying Fairy delivers a healthy dose of classic-styled RPG gaming. And it's quite a big dose, it seems. The game's official Twitter revealed today a 60 to 70 hour play volume.

A later post clarified that this figure is the time it will take you to get to the credits. Fully completing the game may take longer.

Bravely Default's promotions have been heavily tied to its AR features. But this seems to be just a minor part of the game. AR-based content takes up around 1% of the game.

Other posts at the Twitter feed revealed that the game has summons with elaborate visualizations.

Also, the game will probably not get a special 3DS system (special systems are common for major Square Enix releases). The Twitter feed noted that the game's promotions, including demos, have focused on current 3DS owners.

Other than the title and the AR thingy, this game sounds brilliant as usual. 60 hours of story is really promising.

Too bad it's for 3DS :okay:.

When will they get their hands off on hand helds and focus on actual RPGs on consoles? sigh.

I'd be interested if it were on PlayStation 3.

In fact, it looks interesting enough that I'd probably stalk it and maybe even pre-order it in such a situation. But I'm not spending $99,999.99 on a 3DS and all the weird accessories required. At least, that's how much it would feel to me.

Wish they'd at least give some sort of release date. This is one of the few games I'm looking out for this year or next year. I get distracted more easily, though, so I'm not sure how I'll do with the 60 hours. Should be fine, I guess :hmmm:

[23/05] Bravely Default Producer Implemented Fan Feedback From Demo

In Japan, Square Enix asked players to submit feedback based on the second Bravely Default demo, the one where you can run around town and do a water fetching side quest.

Some fans felt Tiz walked too slow and producer Tomoya Asano fixed that. Characters now run 20% faster and this won’t affect the enemy encounter rate. You can see a comparison with the updated game and the demo (playing in a window). Running speed also changes depending on how far you push the slide pad.

Other tweaks Asano showed were changing character standing positions when you talk to them and fixing a sound timing issue in the inn. Asano says players will be able to test out the battle system in the next Bravely Default: Flying Fairy demo.

Bravely Default: Flying Fairy is slated for release later this year on Nintendo 3DS.
