[10/05] What Is Square Enix’s Agnis Philosophy?

Square Enix Japan registered two domain names, which are currently empty. Digitalgamelab.com sounds like, well, a downloadable game studio called Digital Game Lab. Maybe it’s something like Hippos Lab, a smartphone studio Square Enix established in Tokyo last year.

We’re more interesting in agnisphilosophy.com. This domain name was also registered by their Japan division and we haven’t seen Square Enix tease anything with Agnis… yet.

Whatever it is, it sounds pretentious...must be a new game, then. After all, the past few years have shown that Square Enix love creating complex and impressive sounding titles for what have proven to be ultimately mediocre and underwhelming games. Maybe we'll see more of this during E3 this year or something...or it might be the name of one of those new games Square Enix have shown screenshots for but nothing else.

Possibly. Alot of their announcements recently have been browser and cell phone games which I really could care less about.

Well, I can't fault Square Enix for releasing a ton of mobile phone games - although I can and will bitch about the prices of these games - but I don't think they need yet ANOTHER studio dedicated to tackling the task, when they've already got some empty ones just waiting to be filled. Although knowing them, they're probably just registering these impressive sounding domain names just in case they need them in the future; someone thinks of it, they think it sounds good, so they copyright it. Thank god fanfiction writers can't afford to do the same thing, otherwise we'd have everything copyrighted.
