[08/05] Tetsuya Nomura: "It's about time that Kingdom Hearts should go back to being on a console"

Final Fantasy Versus XIII wasn't the only thing director Tetsuya Nomura talked about in his interview with GameInfotmer. In fact, he shared a few hints on the future of the Kingdom Hearts series.

The most obvious question centered on possible HD remasters for Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts II. Square Enix is currently working on Final Fantasy X for PS3 and Vita so it would only make sense for KH to as well. To that Nomura said, "I do have an interest in HD versions, and I'm currently researching them. If it is possible, I would like to do something about the series being spread over so many different consoles, too. I am thinking a lot about the future."

When asked about a possible game on the PlayStation Vita, Nomura explained that "The PS Vita is definitely a powerful device that is very interesting, but because of it's high power, there isn't much of a difference with a console. So even if we were to make a game, we would have to be very careful about how to create it for that device. I also feel that it's about time that Kingdom Hearts should go back to being on a console."

So there you have it. Even Nomura echos the fans in their wish to see the series return to its console roots. If your interested in the rest of the interview, check out the June issue of GameInformer magazine.

i saw this in a tweet from crunchy roll. i hope he does more than just remaster the games. i hope to see another installment of the series for consol's. seems that the game series just went right to hand held and for people like me. its hard to stay interested when i barley have time for a hand held gaming system. KH 2's long ending really gave promise to something bigger with the series, but to me going handheld. it really limits you graphics wise in my opinion. a new game not just a remastered would be a huge welcome to the series for consols from me :)

I really hope the KH I and II are remastered! I would love to play remastered versions of I and II in HD :D

I don't believe anything nomura says anymore, he said there wouldn't be a final mix for birth by sleep and it was done anyway. They will most likely will make more KH games for handhelds despite saying they'll go back to making the KH games on consoles.

Well it would be nice to get DDD and BBS on a console... (don't get a crap about CoM.)
But other than that don't really care about HD remakes of KH and KHII
I rather see KHIII than see a bunch of remakes, which is sounding more and more likely....

Nomura-Interview_5-9.jpg

The latest issue of Famitsu features an interview with Kingdom Hearts director Tetsuya Nomura where he discusses the next title entering into the series. Whether or not it’s Kingdom Hearts 3, he remained elusive.
Whether the next release would be the inevitable release of Kingdom Hearts 3, he said “I’ll leave that up to you.”
He had little to say about the next title in the series except that it might be something unexpected akin to a “fast ball”. He also implied that it’s something “lightweight” but is refraining from saying more about the unannounced title.
Thanks, Sokuho@Hokanko.
