[04/05] Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn screenshots – nighttime in Thanalan & Ul’dah

Square Enix has updated their official Facebook page, showing off some of the updated locations in FFXIV: A Realm Reborn.


Not only has the user interface seen some revision, but both the city-states of Thanalan and Ul’dah have seen some major revisions as well. The images provided show a glimpse at nightlife in these revamped areas.


With the full game set to launch this summer, FFXIV will enter its third beta phase starting in June – the likes of which will include both PC and PS3 players. Those who still wish to register for the beta can do so here. Open beta is scheduled to commence soon after.

The graphics look really nice. To be honest I know next to nothing about the game other than that it's an MMO and when it was released the first time it was an unmitigated disaster. I'd try this on my PS3, possibly my laptop. PS3 might be a more viable option for me though. Can't say I know how I'd be able to type with any ease however, haha. Thanks for the Beta link. ^^

The graphics look amazing and, assuming that the game will be able to run smoothly, the gameplay should not disappoint either. I'm also loving the interface. Still crossing my fingers that they'll invite me to the PS3 beta when the time comes. If not, I'll be awaiting the open beta, as that will greatly determine whether or not I will even purchase the game later this year.

I would love to play FFXIV on my new PC, but I didn't get the best benchmark score, even after lowering the specs. :/ It was slightly below average, but that may be due to my integrated graphics card. Perhaps I'll upgrade it to see if I can improve my score any. I'm just more comfortable playing MMOs on my PC. Plus, I think that typing will feel awkward on the PS3, even if I hook up a USB keyboard. Aaaand they're thinking about releasing FFXIV for the PS4 eventually? Yeah, no thanks... >.>;

So wait, if we signed up before the last beta phase, do we need to sign up again for the third beta phase? I applied for PC and PS3 already, and the registration servers are down at the moment. Really hoping they let me in at some point, since I run a tech blog and my JRPG posts are among the most popular I've done.
