[01/09] Lightning Returns: FFXIII Makes Major Changes to the Series’ Formula, Ends Trilogy

Damn me to hell.

I am fervent hater and naysayer of the Nova Crystallis story branch, but this might actually be a fresh new start for SE!
Very excited about this new turn of events, seeing as they can't possibly screw this up beyond what they have already done
with the series. The incorporation of the dooms-day countdown, though an obvious Majora's Mask rip-off (or homage for all the PC people out there), is also a great addition to the series.

I am accustomed to getting the middle finger from SE for quite a bit of years now, so once the game is out, I will most likely
rent it or borrow it from a friend to try it out.

Staying skeptical with a bit hopeful. Prove me wrong SE.

Oh please, Star Ocean was always associated with Tri Ace and Enix and now Enix is part of Square, thus it is a SE game along with Tri-Ace. Dont try to BS your way out of it just because your opinion of SE isnt high at this moment.

You mean the "new" things they are doing with Lightning Returns: FFXIII? Evolving the battle system, adding in customization which seems like a step above what FFX2 did for the battle system of FFX, as well as adding in new elements not seen in a Final Fantasy game before? Sounds to me like they are doing a pretty damn good job of trying to create new additions to the series.

Tri-Ace developed it, Enix published it. Thats like saying saying tomb raider was developed by SE. Don't start acting all high and mighty over one misunderstanding.

For example, if FFXII: Fortress was released by Smile, and it sucked, i wouldn't consider it a "true" SE title. the Enix aspect of Square Enix is really small, the only thing making it "Enix" is being able to publish games not developed by Square such as Dragon Quest, Star Ocean, etc.

So like i said, Star Ocean 4 isn't a true SE title, in the sense that it wasn't developed by SE.

As for Lightning Returns. I'm not gonna lie, it looks most promising (compared to the rest of the lightning series) however, who are gonna take a chance on a good game that it's at its end of a trilogy.
