^ my thoughts exactly. The one thing, however, that I fear is SE making some drastic change in the story and call it a retcon. People like to discuss character interactions/relationships and storylines, so changes that happen in remakes and spin-offs could throw a wrench into things.

Actually, she was Aerith in FFVII in Japan (where the game originated from). It was only changed to Aeris in America due to a mistranslation. It's no coincidence that SE decided to call her Aerith in every English spin-off from then on.

Let's not forget that the rest of the party saw Cloud and Tifa together. She could be embarrassed about them knowing that she emotionally opened herself to Cloud, or she could be embarrassed that they saw her naked with Cloud. It's pretty ambiguous but I'm going to say it's the first one...

I'm a cloti fan myself, but I highly doubt they did the nasty beneath the Highwind. I think they just slept together in way that confirms that Cloud considers her as a very, very close friend at the very least.
