Well actually I changed one thing and the controls are great now, and even so I had already adapated to the weird ones
Basically they were set, so that forward always moved him the direction he was facing, even if he was facing the camera. And the left would make him turn his left etc. But I changed it from 2D to 3D and now it works like all other games
I am very good at it, or perhaps people are just easily wound up
