Basically sometimes I have taken a person's money in the shop, and entered on the till that they gave me whatever amount. Then they give me some more change after. So say their purchase is $16.18 and they hand me a 20, I hit the $20 bill on the register, so then they say "actually I have $1.18 here". Which is really annoying, so rather than going back I just work out the money in my head. I have not been paying attention though, so I give them back their change using the extra money they gave me. So in that example I would have shortchanged them $1.18. Some guy today finally noticed what I was doing wrong
