Multiple Platforms Mass Effect 2

i got half way through the first one then put the controller down cause the story was just so borring. but the voice acting was really good. i might get part 2 when it goes on sale or something.

I can understand how some people can find the first one boring, I'm just used to alot of dialogue in my games. You should try the second one, they made it more shooter-oriented so it's really just a Third-Person shooter with a great storyline.

I like having dialogue in my game, not too much *looks at Xenosaga* But I gave up with Mass Effect due to the battle system and the Mako. I want to complete it so badly, but after playing and loving the second, I really dislike the first!

Mass Effect 1 is one of the greatest games ever though. The gameplay is not the best ever, but it's certainly not unplayable by any standard. The story and dialogue is the best thing about the game however, as is the case with just about every Bioware game.

Mass Effect 2 is one of my favourite games of the last few years though. I went out and bought the Collectors edition the day after release. I still have yet to finish a perfect game on it, but I'm working on that now. Only thing it's missing is a few PCs from ME1 and it would have been almost perfect >:3

By that do you mean PCs from Mass Effect 1 being present in Mass Effect 2, or characters from Mass Effect 1 being PCs in Mass Effect 2? Either way, I thought it delivered plenty of both. You do get to recruit
Garrus and Tali
from the first game, and during my playthrough I've met everyone else apart from
Kaidan Alenko
who could not be present for obvious reasons
(died on me in the first one)

I mean I wanted certain people to return and be in my team in ME2.
I've played through a game where Kaiden survived and I've played through a game where Ashley survived, and I would have liked to have been able to recruit them, and not have them get on their high horse about me working for Cerberus.
Also Wrex. I had to make sure my Paragon/Renegade score was massive before heading to Virmire just so that he would survive the first part of the mission, and then in ME2 you don't even get to speak to him for more than a couple minutes of dialogue.l Granted you already get a Krogan in your team, and Grunt IS a better character than Wrex imo, but I still would have liked to have him in my team.

I've finished ME2 multiple times, and still love to play it again. Currently I'm preparing my Shepards (I have 4) for ME3. Two Male and Two Female, with different choices during the game. With all the available DLC for this game, and with more on the way (hopefully to tie in with ME3) I have a feeling I'll be re-playing this game for a long time to come.

I rather liked Mass Effect 1. I'm not saying it has a better story, but I enjoyed its story more than Mass Effect 2. That being in Mass Effect 2, the majority of the game involves you collecting people and doing their loyalty missions. Which is alright, they're interesting characters, and you find yourself caring about them. I just remember ME1 to have a more enjoyable storyline, to me at least.

You could kind of tell the character designer is into comic books. Characters like Jack, Grunt, Mordin, Samara and Zaeed are such graphic novel-like characters. In terms of appearance, mannerisms and even their background story. Which is awesome, don't get me wrong.

A few problems I had with Mass Effect 1 and 2 is that you couldn't invert the X axis. And that was a major bummer for me. It took me a while to get used to the camera/aim controls. Another complaint I have is how the Renegade/Paragon system is implemented. I'm not saying it's bad, but it doesn't feel authentic in a role playing sense. You usually get your dialogue wheel, in which you have your first option "Paragon", second option "neutral" and third option "Renegade". And so basically, if you want to play as Renegade Shepard, you'd often find yourself just blindly selecting the third option in the dialogue wheel. And there's no reward in being half renegade and half paragon. You have to be either of both. I guess I kind of liked the character approval/disapproval system in Dragon Age Origins more. Where with some characters, a "renegade" action or choice of dialogue would be something they would actually approve on and vice versa.

I've gone long enough on that haha. Anyways, on my second playthrough as Paragon Shepard. Can't wait for Mass Effect 3. In the mean time I have 2 more Bioware games to keep me busy :wacky:

Wow what news today for sony. Mass effect coming to ps3. Lol beggers just like XIII for 360. Let us see if Mass effect III will be only 360 though :tehe:

What? I thought it was just being moved to where it always belonged. It was out on PC from day one, so it's always been multi platform.

Yeah that is true but it is still coming to ps3. Gamescom today :hmph:

Good news for all PS3 owners then! Personally I never really understood why fans are so protective of exclusive titles. Mass Effect 2 is the best RPG in this generation and deserves to be enjoyed by as many people as possible.

Tough luck for the PS3 owners on missing out on the first one though. They should have done a bundle, but I suspect Microsoft might have the publishing rights to the first one...

There's still no word on what happens to the first Mass Effect game though. I don't see why that can't come over to the PS3 as well (come on Bioware, you know you want to do that), because having the PS3 owners start at the second game is a bit of an odd prospect.

I'm really happy to hear this of course. Admittedly Mass Effect 2 was definitely one of the non-PS3 titles that I was fascinated in. It certainly fascinated me more than most of the RPG collection that the PS3 has to offer. And if Bioware is wise, they would bring Mass Effect 3 to the PS3 as well, even if they have to make it a timed-exclusive kind of thing for the 360 and PC first.

And Xbox 360 owners...don't feel so bad about this loss. You know that the PS3 has become a force to be reckoned with since its more lacklustre days. =D

Mass Effect 1 published by Microsoft

Mass Effect 2 published by EA

I suspect that could be part of the reason.

^ Exactly.
After hearing this news, for a split second a regretted buying a 360. Then I snapped back to reality and realized if I hadn't, I wouldn't have played the first one nor purchased copies of Jade Empire, Knight of The Old Republic and Psychonauts. The "extra hours of content" they mentioned is undeniably the downloadable content, I'm sure of it.

Well, congratulations to those who own a PS3, no 360 and an incapable PC. Sharing the love is what the gaming community is about. :monster:

Ah, I see. That will be a big reason then I suppose. A bit of a loss for us then if we're to probably miss out on the first one. I just hope the ME2 we're to receive will do a good job of filling in things then. Or even better, compensate us somehow. ^^

And at least we may not have to bear the long elevator loading times of ME1 then I suppose. xD

I am certain that the ps3 port will be different. Maybe added stuff and all that. Kinda like Star Ocean TLH when it got ported to ps3. I could be wrong though.. Though for sure something will be different.. I mean if its the same game that isnt really exciting :gasp:

I think in the current Mass Effect 2 there's a sort of "previously on..." recap if you don't transfer a Mass Effect 1 save game, so you wouldn't be completely lost. Still though, for all it's flaws Mass Effect 1 was still an amazing game and I thoroughly enjoyed how even the smallest choices in ME1 had repercussions in ME2.

if this is magical technolgy already exist i'm slow ok

but what about a feature letting you port your saved games from mass effect pc to mass effect 2 ps3 that would be awesome for me

I have no idea if it is possible at all, but Mass Effect 1 and 2 have almost the same minimum system requirements for PC. So if people were able to play Mass Effect 1 on their PC, they should be able to play Mass Effect 2 on their PC too. So yeah, they either release Mass Effect 1 for Playstation 3 or they don't.

Anything else would be a patchwork solution and not likely to be used by more than a tiny percentage of users anyway.

And like GM said, the additional content is almost certainly the DLC.
