It seems like FFXIII Versus is going to have some Shakespeare influences.
Eg (Noctis and Stella=Romeo and Juliet apparently, the Hamlet quote in the trailer)

My questions are:
1. Do you think Noctis and Stella will suffer a tragic ending similar to Romeo and Juliet? Will they have a different version of tragic? Will the have one at all?
2. What sort of other Shakespeare influences/themes would you like to see in Versus?

My answers:
1.Personally, I think Noctis and Stella will have a tragic ending but it won't be the same as Romeo and Juliet. Maybe only one will die, maybe both will and if both do, it won't be from suicide over the others death.
2.I am not sure if I want a Hamlet ending but it definitely is a very interesting idea. As far as I know there hasn't be a Final Fantasy that resulted in everyones death.
I haven't read a lot of Shakespeare but I very much like how MacBeth and Lady MacBeth go insane over guilt and a few other factors. Having someone lose sanity over something would be a very good thing to include.
Shakespeare made so many brilliant concepts it is hard to choose.

And yes, I do know we know like nothing but I though some speculation would be fun.

A lot of people have said that one of things they look forward to about Versus is the potentially dark, mature story it will have (lol, we're all angst-junkies :wacky: ). If that includes a scenario where the hero actually dies, I'd be mighty interested in that.

So in that case, I wanna see Noctis and maybe even Stella dying. Although I find it hard to imagine even if FF get's really dark, it will have the heroes committing suicides, so more likely I just assume that they will die in battle.

One trailer showed the two facing against each other, so I assume one will die to the other. If Noctis is the hero of the game, he'll probably end up killing Stella but be really torn over it, and then somehow die himself...maybe...

I love Romeo and Juliet and I think I'd cry all over the place if Stella and Noctis were to die. >.<

I know I've not played the game or heard to much about the characters but if it turns out anything like Romeo and Juliet it'll definitely bring on the waterworks. >.<

I think it'd be interesting if one of them did die. It'd hit gamers real hard to lose a loved main character (depending on if they love them or not).

But if both died it'd feel even more trajic and would definitely give the game a dark feel.

Regardless I am looking forward to it and strangely I wouldn't mind if the ending was like that. It'd be something different and I'd love a good cry. >.<

This is a very good question, If there is relevance to Shakespeare then I guess I'd have to say yes, it would make a very nice plot twist, or a terrible ending. I get the feeling it's going to be one of those 'Everyone Dies' sort of game...

I'd like to see Shakespeare in it, It would be nice to see. Also I would imagine that it would be rather challenging for the creators to incorporate it into a Final Fantasy.

1. Eh, not really. I don't think Square really has the guts to do that. Killing off some side characters, maybe, but killing off the two main ones? I won't believe it until I see it.

2. I think, based on the Hamlet quote "There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so" that Noctis may be forced to make either unethical decisions or decisions that could possibly be deemed "evil." But as the viewer/player, we will come to accept whatever Noctis' actions are, because we will be able to empathize with him and come to understand that there is little alternative.

Just a guess though xd

I'm thinking that the hero might turn into the villian, much like Macbeth did in the play Macbeth. Noctis may start out as a good-natured young man that only wants whats best for his kingdom and then end up getting twisted by the words or actions of another (like the witches).

It would certainly be interesting to play as the "hero" only to have him end up as the very person you fight to destroy at the end of the game.

So I'm pretty sure there will be a tragic ending for either Noctis, Stella, or both. Then again, Square might think that's too obvious a scenario and end up suprising us with something completely different.
