Nothing. Metallica has always been one of those "in through one year, out through the other" bands that I just couldn't get into. I love thrash metal and everything, but Metallica just never did anything for me. One thing I will say about the new album though, is that the drums still sound absolutely horrific :P
 
Anyone into their Sludge?.......Progressive Sludge, like Mastodon?

If so I strongly urge you to check out Baroness. Sludge but Progressive aswell, began similar to early Mastodon but are developing a more cleaner, technical sound rather than heavy. They have easily become one of my favourite bands this past year or so and eagerly wait for their second full length due out later this year.

 
I'm not a huge metal fan. I do like Black Metal and Thrash Metal a lot though. Burzum, Bathory, Nuclear Assault, Slayer, Morbid Saint, Corrosion of Conformity, Municipal Waste.

I'm not huge on metal but I know I absolutely fucking hate metalcore, nu-metal, and power metal. I recall listening to "Battle Cry" by Omen, and I swear to god I am never touching power metal again D:
 
Grief.

I don't feel like typing anything else, but I probably should or the mods will get on my back. Grief was brilliant and they are one of the few sludge bands that are still in rotation on my stereo. The sole Warhorse album was pretty good too.

Have you tried more thrashy Power Metal like early Iced Earth, in particular the 'Night of the Stormrider' album? It's thrash but with elements of Power Metal but not so cheesie and flowery and so called 'epic'.
 
ok im really into me (heavy)metal, but latley i have been liking more thrashy death/black metal music, Cannabal Corpse, Cradle of filth, tho i still listen to the other stuff i did like metallica and gunz, i also really like Placebo atm

I just listened to it for the first time and in my opinion it's so and so. The guitar riff is ace, and the new guy tries his hardest at pulling off a decent Layne Staley impersonation, but it's just way too monotomous and drawn out. They could easily have cut 2 minutes off without taking anything away from the song.
 
Came across a new band the other day: Hanni Kohl

You can download their discography from their myspace page. Basically, they combine Death Metal/Deathcore/Grindcore elements with Techno/Hardstyle creating a unique fusion genre.

I am a huge metal fan. I'm kind of a snob about it, actually XD Most metalcore makes me cringe in pain, even though there's a few gems in there, like Between The Buried and Me... My favorite metal band is Galneryus, a Japanese power metal band. Others I really like are Behemoth, In Mourning, Opeth, Bathory, Alghazanth, Garden of Shadows, Gojira, Immortal... There's a huge list, but I don't feel like posting them all.
 
I grew up to metal. I would lay in my crib and listen to countless hours of Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath. Some of my favorite bands are as follows:

Disturbed
Black Sabbath
Dio
Ozzy Osbourne
Pantera
Iced Earth
Judas Priest
Rush

I have more, but that would cause a LONG list. Plus, I can't think of them all.
 
Metal is awesome, nothing like it, I first started getting into it when I was about 12 or 13 and liked mostly mainstream metal such as Disturbed, Godsmack, etc. But as I got older I got into the more heavier depths of metal. Now my top 10 would have to be:

1. Behemoth
2. Cradle of Filth
3. Children of Bodom
4. Cannibal Corpse
5. Chimaira
6. Arch Enemy
7. Psyclon Nine
8. All Shall Perish
9. In Flames
10. All That Remains
