I think I can speak for everyone and say that the fanfare that plays after you win a random battle in the Final Fantasy series is something that can't really be replaced. It's classic. It's catchy. Everybody knows it and likes it.

"Doo doo doo doo, dooooo doooo, doo, doo dooooo..."

I love that little tune. =D (P.S. if anyone knows how to get it as a ringtone, let me know)

But then, all of a sudden, X-2 comes out (which is a game I have bad feelings towards to begin with). I buy the game, play it for a few minutes, and eventually I find myself engaged in a random battle.

I beat the enemies.

Now, me, being the naive little girl I am, was expecting to hear the old, close-to-home Final Fantasy victory fanfare. But oh, how wrong I was...

Instead, it was some weird little jingle that sounded like "werrr werr werrrrrrrrrrrrrr werrrrr...."

What the heck is that? 0.0

It's awful!

And it's killing one of the smallest (but one of my favorites) elements to a Final Fantasy game. In fact, they might as well not even CALL IT FINAL FANTASY. They might as well call it "That Sequel Game To Final Fantasy X With The Crappy Music, Characters, And Plot".

Who's with me? XD

*nod* Couldn't agree with you more. I was shocked when I heard the victory tune. Oh, and ever since I watched Advent Children, I have wanted that tune as my ringtone. You know the scene, the fight between Tifa and Loz. Anyways, I guess Square wanted a different feel for FFX-2, but alas!, they failed miserably.

Note: http://www.bluelaguna.net, you can download the FFX Victory song here, but it comes with the ending parts as well, it's not just the main beginning tune.

Yeah I was overly Hippaul'd at the grotesque teenyboper theme that came with x2. It made my appreciation for FF music die a little inside. But then, there was 12. Oh, yes. But that was wierd too cuz there was no actual fanfare at all, just... some sound. It was like eating fries without ketchup. Lame.

Haha I do have that as my ringtone actually. I love it when it goes off somewhere crowded in public, because you can tell who's played Final Fantasy before. They start looking around all excited and curious.

xD That sounds awesome.

I never really noticed the difference - I don't listen to music in games much /unfaithful.
Next time I play I will :-) Then again, X-2 did kind of branch off on most of the traditional FF concepts.

Have to say it was one of my least favourite fanfares, I just don't like it. I have no idea why, sorta cringeworthy imo.

I didn't mind it, I just thought, oh that's abit different, but I think it...suited it I guess

Although Im listening to it on youtube now, and it gets really gay about 40 seconds in, and now Im just thinking it sounds awful

I give them props for mixing it up a little, i gave SE props for mixing everything up, but seeing as this game was nothing amazing, i didn't really like it, and would have much preferred to hear the same ol' fanfare

The fanfare was.......all right. At least Square Enix tried. They just can't keep the same fanfare forever. Have to say it was my least favorite, but overall it wasn't too bad, I guess.

That music was actually my first turn-off for FFX-2. I remember playing it for the first time and thinking "What the hell is this?" It honest to God reminded me of music I would hear in a 70's porno.

Well I'll agree that it is catchy, classic and can't be replaced. The fact that it has been used in every FF game (apart from X-2 which I don't consider part of the main series as it is utter rubbish, it's not even really in the main series anyway, it's just a spin off like FF7: Dirge Of Cerberus and FFIV: The After Years).

And after hearing little pieces of music like this repetitively on a constant basis, you'd expect to get bored of it but no, not with the FF fanfare. Only Nobuo Uematsu could make something as legendary as this. Lol, nearly 20 years on it lives on.
