What was Zidane doing the whole time?

Well, Aztec.. In the part where Zidane and Kuja spoke, Kuja did die.. And in Zidane's arms too. Thats where my theory of the next 'Angel of Death' comes in. Since Zidane was meant to take over Kuja, the moment he dies, Zidane gains in power, enough to escape the Iifa tree.

I'm sorry about not answering the question of where he is though. If any, I'll go with BustaMo's idea, it sounds pretty reasonable too.
 
Here's my opinion on what happened:

Zidane probably escaped the Iifa Tree with Kuja's body and buried him. He might have headed back to Madain Sari (was that what it was called?) and hung out there for a little while to recover. After that, he probably headed to Gargant Roo and rode over to Treno. I guess he then headed to Dali to catch an airship over to Lindblum, if they still had the airships there. It's all pretty obvious from there.

I'm guessing he was gone for about...two to six months? Using Gargant Roo and the airships, I think that would be more than enough time to head back to Alexandria.

Well I dont know how much time has passed, but my guess is it is Dagger's Bday, we do not know two things, 1, how long a year is there and 2, how long it takes hair to grow for them...

My guess is once Zidane escaped, how ever he did, he eventually landed in Lindbum (is that the name of the city with Tantuls?)...and it was very soon that they would be preforming in Alexandaira and in Zidane's flair for the dramatics waited just a little bit longer to put on one hell of a performance
 
I'm guessing he just spent some time learning more about his true identity, at least it makes sense to me that a 16 year guy would want to know more about himself and his destroyed world.

Either that or he was just sick of Garnet and wanted to meet some new people, ending up to come back and stay with her, since living with a rich princess can't be bad at all.

I HIGHLY doubt that, it is obvious that Zidane was head over heals for Garnet, he may have spent a little time waiting for the pristine moment to surprise her...but Zidane never showed any hint of being sick of her
