What did you guys and gals think of the Draw System in FFVIII

I heard mixed stuff, some ppl enjoyed the Draw system, cause it added more difficulty to the game.

I personally hated the Draw system, cause like most of the time i would draw nottin or fail in drawing adding another 30 mins to my game play

I hated it with a passion. It was absolutely too long and wasted my time. When I had to top up on magic or whatever I just got frustrated. Never again should they do such a system. EVER!!

I liked it, didn't really think it added all that much extra playtime to the game compared to leveling up your characters and GF's. The thing I liked most about it, was the fact that you could fully stock up without having to purchase it find a shop and purchase the magic.

Seems everyone thinks different, including myself.
I loved the draw system. It was so awesome, if you wanted 100 of any magic, just sit there and survive to get some strong magic and power yourself up after the battle. All you need to do is draw magic for like 15 minutes and bam! you have 100 of this magic. It was a million times better than materia.

I liked it too you didnt have to think about how much MP ultima (or any other magic) took up and running out of MP half-way through a boss battle and not having any Ether's or Elixir's to replace it and then dieing because you cant use cure :(

I like the idea of it but when it comes down to it I disliek it too. You really do spend alot of time stocking magic (especially if your characters are only stocking very few at a time!), magic which I never seem to use apart from junctioning them to my stats.

I find using majority of magic in fights in this game useless anyways, personaly I just seem to use regular attacks and items mostly. Only real exceptions are Meltdown and Aura.

I whole heartedly agree. The magic in the game wasn't that strong at all. In fact, it was pathetic. Physical attacks and GF's were the best way to go, so to make such a long winded way to get magic when the magic isn't all that effective is just plain wrong. Even if you had to buy the magic from the shops and had to watch MP you will have the magic available to you always and wouldn't have to worry about stocking up; and I'm sure you had enough Ethers and such to replenish MP, and if you didn't that was part of the challenge.
Aura and Meltdown were all you needed really, perhaps Death and the like could help but the majority were just weak.

Meh... Here and there...

It added a little something, namely strategy via magic/stat combinations. I liked the lack of MP, and the whole 'free magic' idea.

But it took so long to get magic that I, personally, didn't use much.

That was a good reason. Why didn't I think of that?

I think it was nice and different at the time, but it becomes a pain in the ass after you play again because it is time consuming, just like the sysytem in FF10 it is boring to use.

It is time consuming, having to draw new magics whenever you find a new monster...

But I liked it, overall. It gave a previously-unknown level of interactivity/customizability to the characters. Even compared to VII, In my opinion.

I didn't really like it all that much. Only thing I liked about it was you could assign it to your stats, and refine items from it. Even then you gotta get your GF to learn the ability to refine.

All-in-all, I think it was way to time-consuming. Half the time I'd miss, and when I actually did hit, I didn't get that many magics, and they were really weak. I give it two thumbs down.

I didn't like the Draw System much... it takes ages to draw all the magic you need to max out your stats, and you can only have so much in your inventory... it takes a while. Especially since I'm the kind of person who, when playing, draws 100 Cures, Fires, Blizzards, and Thunders before I even fight Ifrit. And by the time I fight Edea for the first time, 100 each of the other two levels as well.

Takes a long time.
