Metal Gear Solid Movie.

I'm really looking forward to see the Metal Gear Solid movie that's supposed to come out next year. I highly doubt it, since a director hasn't been named yet (or so I heard). It just suck that David Hayter (Snake's voice and creator of the plot of X-men 2) is not going to be involved at all. =/

Anyhow, I just can't wait to see how this movie turns out!

R U SERIOUS THERE'S GOIN TO BE A MGS MOVIE!!! well i heard that there's goin to be a halo movie, but mgs this is a surprise! well if david hayter ain't atleast dubbing snakes actors voice then i'm goin to post bad ratings everywhere on the web, so it does get a bad rating!!!!

I really hope this doesnt suck like most video game movies, as long as they do it right and try to 'hollywood' it up to much I would love to check it out.

Martin Lawrence is playing snake... ;)

I'd like to see MGS to be gritty, with Bournesque CQC featured.

Heard something about this a while ago, round the time MGS3 came about. Not heard anything since.

Apparently, Hugh Jackman was the lead contender for the role of Snake.

I'd like to see a MGS movie, providing Kojima was involved and it followed one of the games instead of spinning away from them (like Resident Evil)

But in truth one isn't really needed considering the amount of cut-scenes and length of them in the games. They are really just like interactive movies.

Liquid Snake: Dear brother, it is your time to die!

Martin Lawrence's Snake: OH SNAP! I see how it is UP IN HARR! You think that just because I'm a... BLACK... MAN... you can keep me down. Oh let's go! It's on, biaaaaaaaaaatttttcccccccccccchhhhh!

Gray Fox: Shhhh! This is a sneaking mission!

Martin Lawrence's Snake: Oh HELL NO! I know you didn't just be telling me to hush my self! I'm gonna come over there and whoop up on you, pajama boy!

The movie's gonna suck. Hell, the games are already more movie than game. What the hell could you possible want from an actual movie?

Alright ladies, I'm pretty sure you won't disagree with me here

:inlove:

Ok, hormones aside, I'd actually love to see this adapted into a possible series of films. My ideal director for it would probably be either Sam Mendes (Jarhead, American Beauty) or David Fincher (Se7en, Fight Club, Zodiac, Panic Room)

I also recall hearing a rumour that Amy Adams is being considered for the role of Meryl...

Director was already announced. It's Kurt Wimmer, the guy that directed Ultraviolet and Equilibrium. And although I am one of the biggest MGS fans in the world, his participation in the movie has turned me off. In an interview he already said he wanted to keep the same style as Equilibrium in MGS, IE Matrix Esq fight scenes in which Snake will dodge bullets and deflect missiles Ala Twin Snakes.

His participation in the movie raised many hopes in seeing Christian Bale star because the two are friends and have worked together in Equilibrium. But his participation is in doubt because he has prior engagement and has signed on to do three terminator movies in which he is working on at the moment.

Apparently, Hugh Jackman was the lead contender for the role of Snake.
That was actually fan speculation. The creator himself (Hideo Kojima) stated that he would like to see Viggo Mortensen who played Aragorn in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Personally this is also something I would not like to see.

It appears this movie is going in all the wrong directions. But as a lifetime fan of the series I guess I will be a tad bit disappointed with most the things they try to do with it.

yeah true, the games already mostly movie, so we've seen it already...

What they could try and do is make a sitcom... They have all the characters for one... Snake as the annoyed old man, Otacon as the bumbling scientist guy, sunny as the adorable funny kid, meryl and akiba as the newly weds always having issues and going to snake about it, and then you have those 2 black guys who can act like Will smith from fresh prince... The world can watch Sunny grow up and marry that kid she met at the airfield during Meryls wedding... Only that kid grows up to be a bit like Ashton Kutchers character in that 70's show as opposed to Sunnys genius. Offcourse somehow snake lives for a few years rather thatn months, dont know how thats gonna work...

This was made to be a sitcom

Aiiiia. That is worrisom. Equillibrium and Ultraviolet were silly action movies (which I can enjoy, depending on my mood) but... Metal Gear Solid shouldn't be that kind of action movie, if you know what I mean.

But then, IMDB hasn't listed him as anything as of yet. So for now, hopefully it's just a rumour.

I agree with not liking the idea of Viggo, but would probably not mind Hugh Jackman in the role. Not to say he's my ideal choice, but if it did come to that I wouldn't mind settling.

Yeah, this movie idea has going on for a while now. Not very sure who could actually play Snake. I always thought that David Hayter was the right man for the job--I swear, he looks a lot like Solid Snake at times (also would need to lose the daddy-weight). Any word on Ocelot? Hope he'll make it in. I'd like to see Gary Oldman play him.

From as far as I knew, he had been listed for several months as the director on IMDB.

A few of the producers have been announced as well, and I was very excited with that. A few of them have worked on some huge movies that are some of my favorite.

As much as I'd love to see this person and that take on the roles in this movie, I find myself trying not to think to much about it. Because let's face it video game movies don't really get big names. And even if they do get a 'somewhat' popular person it is only one. So I try not to get my hopes ruined more then it already has.

Vagina, you really think Commissioner Gordon would be the right person for Revolver Ocelot? He's not even that old... I say go with a Sean Connery type.

Oh woops, my bad. With IMDB, I tend to just skim through the very top when looking at upcoming titles.

As far as the producers go... I'm a little on the fence. Josh Bratman currently does not have any notable titles under his repetoire. Micahel De Luca has had participation in some greats like Boogie Nights, American History X, Austen Powers and Detroit Rock City... but likewise, he's participated in the Blade films, Rush Hour (not too different from the "silly action movies" Ultraviolet and Equillibrium) and most recently, the financial and critical bomb, The Love Guru.

Admittedly I'm not that well-informed in regards to the status of production, I'm mainly looking off what's on IMDB (which can change sporadically at times). I guess only time can tell, and I will reserve most of my judgement until there is a trailer.

But, it seems as if Hideo Kojima will be involved somehow in the production, so that could be a hopeful sign to Metal Gear fans.

I don't think most people think of him as the Commissioner though, they remember him as the mincing DA from Leon. Which is why he would seem like a pretty good cast because he is an amazing actor. But his look and age is to far off imo.

There has been a lot of talk about the guy from "There Will be Blood" for that slot.

Hi guys! I am not sure if anyone else here likes MGS, but I have a feeling some do. Anyways, I recently learned some news that MGS is set to be released as a Motion Picture sometime in 2009 or 2010. The actual date is unknown, but there has been confirmation from Hideo Kojima that there will be a MGS movie coming out. I think this is great news! As long as they get a good cast, and don't change too much from the game. This was one of the best games I have ever played, and if they find a way to have some good actors while at the same time keeping the game script, this movie just may be a hit. I would like to hear opinions, as well as any more news that you guys have about this. I have a bit of information posted at the end of this post. :)

Here's one website that says it will be released in 2009 and has a few comments.

Here is a confirmation from GameSpot, apparently Kojima added that it was in the works.

David Hayter (voice of Solid Snake) announced to not be part of the movie.

Fan-made movie, but looks pretty cool so I thought I would post it anyways. This is NOT a trailer from the actual movie.

A movie? are you sure? if there is really one coming out, ill be the first to see it. I am a major MGS fan!

Also a major MGS fan. Has been my favourite series for a long time now. The story, the themes, the characters, the script, the music, the gameplay and cinematics... all fantastic.

So I knew about this movie, and I await it eagerly. I'm sure it says so in one of the links posted but Kojima will produce so I have faith the movie will be good. There's a petition out there to get Hayter involved, ha, and Christian Bale wanted to be Snake.

Ah, and you posted about Philanthropy as well. I want to see that too.
