wich FF girl do you think is the strongest, best developed character in the series?

My favorite is Tifa, I just love her, she has so many layers, she is strong yet weak, sad yet cheerful. Not to mention she is just beautiful(the best in that aspect for me too)

second place would be a tie between Terra and Celes. They both play important parts in their game and have memorable scenes.

third place would be Garnet, she evolves in Final Fantasy IX, one of the most dynamic characters of the series.

I also love Freya,Beatrix,Rydia,Rosa and Quistis. I think they had so much potential but we never see much of them, wasted characters indeed.

Story wise, I'd have to say Terra. She is one of the most developed characters in the series and she does have a pretty detailed story, especially for an SNES game. Also, her character has the most growth out of any character in the entire FF series. It was very interesting to see how she developed from the begining of the game to the ending credits.

Garnet has my second favorite storyline. I feel she is probably the best developed Final Fantasy character after Terra. Her character also showed much growth through out the series and we got to see different sides of her character. One thing I also liked about here was that she wasn't throwing herself all over Zidane when she first met him like most other Final Fantasy girls. It actually took her a couple of disks for her to see him as a romantic interest. And even after, they are not shoved in our faces like every other FF couple is. And it's also nice to see that Garnet does at times get annoyed with his antics.

I'm going to have to go with Garnet. Like Rydia said, it was nice to see a girl not throw herself at the main character immediately. I liked the fact that you got to see their relationship evolve. Also she grew up from the girl who was running away to the girl who ended up saving the world. She went through a drastic change throughout the game. It was fun.

I'd have to go with Terra. I really liked how she wasn't your atypical female lead who latched onto the closest male hero whenever she got the chance...She was actually a really unique character with an interesting past and I enjoyed the fact that she doesn't create a love bond with any of the other party members really, but instead forms a motherly one with the children of that village that Kefka smote with the Light of Judgment. Add to that the fact that she's got a super bitchin half-Esper (/Summon) form and you've got a girl who's pure win. Very cool. I can't wait to see how she is in Dissidia.

I could easily say Celes as well, but I just know someone would say, "but you can save Cid & totally avoid one of the most powerful scenes in FF history!"...>_>

I think my favorite female character is Ashe. She went through all from the beginning but still she was determined and she never gave up on her mission to liberate her kingdom and revenge her beloveds death. I think she wasn't very trusting at the beginning but she grew to trust the party more throughout the game and made close bounds with them. She was very rude and forceful at times, but the crew helps her come to her senses when needed.

I love the whole Rikku storyline. She's an Al Bhed, but you can't say anything incase Wakka hears, she's Yuna's cousin, so Yuna's the more important one, what with her being a summoner and all, and she doesn't make a sound about it, she doesn't even get the slightest bit envious that everyone knows who Yuna is, but nobody has a clue who Rikku is. Some people would get that tad envious, even though she's trying to save everyone...it's human nature. But not Rikku.

Garnet for me, she's just been laid out so well as a character her storyline i fantastic and i love the relationship between her and Zidane, to me it makes FF IX worth buying just for the stroyline between them two.

I would have to choose Garnet/Dagger as well. I feel like she was the most realistic character of the lot (Though I haven't played all of the FF games, so I could be wrong!), as previously mentioned, her being annoyed with Zidane at times, and not throwing herself at him because they instantly loved one another, and how she tried her best to defend and help herself.

Rinoa was the damsel in distress throughout a majority of FFVIII, but I still enjoyed her character, and development throughout. She also didn't instantly fall for Squall, and couldn't stand him at times.

Also, I really liked Lulu... something about her attitude, way of speaking, wisdom, clothes, and black magic was really enjoyable. Her advice and opinions on whatever matter was at hand always felt right, and fair.

I did admire Yuna's determination and perseverance, but that was about all. I enjoyed Rikku at times, but she was more annoying that anything (I think I enjoyed her style and hair more than anything). I can't stand Yuffie! Selphie just didn't cut it for me, though I did enjoy her character.

It's hard to say, a lot of them come close, but have some semi-serious flaws. Like Yuna, she undergoes a lot of development, but she's just depicted so poorly in most cutscenes that it's hard to see past it. Quistis was interesting, being the odd one out of a love triangle and stuff, but as it's been said, she had a lot of potential, which was wasted really.

Then there is Rikku and Lulu, who I group together because they are minor characters next to Yuna/Tidus, but they have great personalities, and it's great to watch them evolve as the game progresses. They were both very interesting characters.

Wow, agree 100%.

I didnt think Garnet would be my first choice in this, but her character was great when it came to storyline. She didnt throw herself straight in there as a heroine, but kinda hung back for awhile. I liked her growth in the game, it was emotional and moving. Not to sound corny, but you watched her grow into a Queen from a princess and it was difficult for her. When she cut her hair as iMO was a bold statement to Zidane and co that she wasnt some soft young woman who fleed from trouble. But rather she'd stand her ground and defend her country.

I too liked Rinoa, looks and personality. She was determined to see the good in Squall and break down those layers to see the real him. Most women would give up and not care, but Rinoa did have some feelings for him, even though they werent that strong at the start of the game. Both her and Squall had to grow up and see what was right in front of them.

I also liked Yuna. Some perhaps see her as a complete goody-goody twoshoes and disliked her from the start. I liked her energy and that she wanted to bring peace and hope to a dying world. Yes, she knew what it meant, but she wanted to help.

I certainly didn't think I would end up choosing Dagger, but once I stepped back and actually thought about it, she seemed like the best choice. And yes, as damsel-in-distress Rinoa was... she developed throughout the game, and that's what's important when you're telling a story about a group of characters...

I'm not a big fan of playing female characters ironically enough, but when I actually think about them, and what they were like when they were first introduced, how they grew, their reactions, motivations, emotions etc. I realized that most, if not all, of the female characters developed as they should within a story, and were well rounded, and realistic characters. Each in their own way. Glad you agree!

For me, the best story-line wise would have to be Tifa, because there is sooo much depth to her character. Throughout most of the story, she puts on this front that makes you believe she's happy and confident in herself, but then you get to see later on just how much turmoil there is raging inside of her. I enjoyed watching her fight her own self-doubt and sadness throughout both the original FFVII and Advent Children. The interesting thing about Tifa is that she never really completely achieves 100% satisfaction with herself, which makes her stand out to me over all of the other FF heroines. I admire her character for that, and I continue to enjoy watching her grow and change as a person in every new installment of the Compilation.

Garnet was a fabulous character story-line wise as well. She didn't fall for the guy immediately or take up the role as heroine right away like so many female characters in games typically tend to do. It was very entertaining, for me at least, to watch her grow from a scared, unconfident woman into the brave and confident Queen she was at the end of the story.

I'm going to have to say Garnet as well. She really does grow into you as you play the game. Even when she had lost her voice, the whole time I felt that she was saying a lot more than what she leads on - her quietness and inner strength vibrated within her and it just really blows me away. And then when she had cut her hair, that certainly speaks for itself as well. Her journey was not an easy one yet she remained strong through it all. I love seeing her vulnerability towards the end of the game when she showed so much emotion after seeing Zidane alive. Just really powerful. I'm really in love with her character, that much is for sure.

Tifa was pretty strong too, yes. After Sephiroth had slashed her and still she remained strong throughout the game for Cloud and everyone, that signifies her strength value, both physically and spiritually. You would think one would cowar out after such a big incident, especially a girl. Sure she was probably scarred for life, but still she kept her head high and fought with such vivacity, it's just hard to miss her development in the game.

And of course, let's not forget Yuna. Now I'd like to exclude X-2 though, but yeah you can definitely A LOT of changes in her character in that as well. Development-wise, she truly nailed that one as well. In the first game, she was more reserved, quite serious, yet all fun-loving at the same time. She'll smile when something makes her happy, but deep down she's carrying such a big burden that you really wonder what she's truly feeling inside. Of course, we find out later on in the game but it just truly amazes me how strong she can be, especially after that speech she made in the end. So moving and emotional. A powerful speech, most definitely.

Im a guy so this may be biased, but i have to go with Quistis. She not only has to hide her emotions due to her teaching position, but she expressess them so vividly to Squall. she is a strong fighter but has her weaknessess. The scene at the after hours spot in FF VIII when she confessess her feelings for squall kinda made me feel all warm and fuzy inside. I know how she feels :(

I can't decide between Yuna, Ashe or Celes. These three female characters were wonderfully developed. Their personalities were endearing and I felt empathy towards them. They're just constructed so well. Neither of them is the typical damsel-in-distress in RPG's, yet they show enough vulnerability to make them seem more realistic. Yuna's dilemma of sacrificing her life for the good of Spira, Ashe's story of being robbed of everything she holds dear, and Celes' relationship with Locke and Cid all make for great characters.

I'm really torn between Celes and Tifa. I liked how they both stepped up and had their idependant moment in the game. (You got to control Celes, to find the others and then you got to control Tifa to help Cloud) I admire their devotion to others, rather than being concerned about their own self-needs. I liked how they weren't perfect--- they had emotional break-downs and insecurities, but they got over them and ended up being stronger than ever.

I know I've already said Rikku, but I think I need to add Garnet to this as well. I've been playing FFIX and I think that she is an extremely strong character, especially having to put up with her mother...

I'd have to say that storywise, I would choose Terra. She is a seriously different female character of the ff series. She has no love interest (originally, i wanted Locke and her to be together, but it became so obvious that Locke loved Celes and vice versa) and that sets her aside from the typical heroine and for her motherly love for the orphans. She yearns to understand what love and trust is, despite being used as a weapon for half her life. Although generally, she is confused (I don't blame her) she gathers up the courage to protect the world and the future of everyone and for the orphans. This proves she was very brave despite the state of everything and of the circumstances. Celes, storywise or not is a great and important character, but I am very attached to Terra since we used her at the beginning of the game, plus she's great. I also think that Rydia of FF4 is cool, as we see progress from childhood to adulthood in rapid time, which is an element not used for a storyline that often. She is strong because of her powers, brave, even though she lost all things dear to her, and independent, as she can take care of herself. She is intelligent as well, and is not easily charmed by a certain flirtatious, good - looking prince (Edge). Though of course, I'm hoping she will like Edge, because of his sincere and honest attempts. I like seeing them together. Haha... Aerith is a special character, I won't deny that. She has many, many traits that are admirable, and she even made the ultimate sacrifice,but...my third choice would be Tifa. Tifa is cheerful, strong and is a good person. She is demure, even. She never stopped supporting Cloud and is brave. Her fighting is awesome, no doubt.

Terra had the most depth to her character if you ask me. She also had more plot significance than most other FF females.

And seeing as the question was based on what our favorites were considered "storyline wise". She was very powerful, but her constant search for love and purpose made for an interesting personal quest.

Garnet/Dagger would be my second choice, followed closely by Yuna.

I would say Celes. I think she's a pretty interesting character! All her history with Kefka and Cid and Locke and everything done to her. Plus (I don't know who said it before) she's the main character for a while in the world of ruin.
Also, who gets to sing in an opera!?!? ¿¿¿??? =oP
