Alright, since no one else is going to do it, I guess I'll make this thread. The NDS is so far looking like a freight train bearing down on us with some of gaming's best titles. Whether you've seen them in the TGS coverage, know they're coming soon, or only on the horizon (i.e. only have a Japanese release date)...what are you looking forward to?

Here's a list of games that look great to me...

Chrono Trigger DS - Nov. 20, 2008 (J)/Nov. 24, 2008 (NA) - The one gripe that people have about this is that it's not as great as the remakes of FFIII, FFIV, or DQIV-VI...it's "just a port"...Yeah, "just a port" of one of the greatest RPGs ever. And from the recent info they've been releasing, it looks like they know we don't want another lackluster port like we were given back on the PSX and are actually putting in a lot of interesting new content (not to mention a new translation! score!) into CTDS.

Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia - Oct. 21, 2008 (NA) - The Castlevania games have been really consistant these past few years and this one is shaping up to be more of the same great gameplay.

Tecmo Bowl: Kickoff - Nov. 11, 2008 (NA) - This game will be like going back to your roots. I really hope that this is the game that sends a big FU to EA. It won't have the names we're used to seeing in the NFL, but with the customizations, we should be able to fix that small problem. The original kicked too much ass to pass this up.

Metal Slug 7 - Nov. 18, 2008 (NA) - If you know the series, you know what to expect. If you don't...uh...what rock are you living under? Once Contra & Gunstar Heroes were long gone, the Metal Slug series was still plowing along with awesome sidescrolling, unlimited bullet shooting, super power-up destruction action...ing? It's good and has always been good...and hey! Number 7! That's lucky!

Dragon Ball: Origins - Nov. 4, 2008 (NA) - The gameplay doesn't sound all that inspiring, but I've been reading the manga recently, so I'm really looking forward to this game that's a journey through Son Goku's earliest adventures.

Tales of Hearts - Q4 2008 (J) - This is one of those series that I really haven't gotten much into (I played some of Tales of Phantasia, but prefered Star Ocean), but have heard nothing but good things about.

Suikoden Tierkreis - TBA 2009 (J) - This IS the series that I haven't gotten into at all that I've heard nothing but good things about.

Shining Force Feather - Q2 2009 (J) - This is one of the great SRPG franchises (though it was always sort of a slightly simplistic Fire Emblem) and it's good to see them getting back to where they were good again.

Phantasy Star 0 - Dec. 25, 2008 (J) - I think this sounds better than it probably actually is. It sounds like it'll probably be another PS that'll just make me remember when they were great like Phantasy Star IV: End of the Millennium. But I won't pre-judge too harshly...So what if it sounds more like the MMO PS games...that doesn't mean they can't make it good, right? I totally hope that I'm proven wrong and that it brings the PS series back in the limelight where it belongs.

Valkyrie Profile: The Accused One - Nov. 1, 2008 (J) - Alright, this is ANOTHER series I haven't gotten into (damn, why are there so many??) but have heard good things about...I hear from fans though that there are complaints that this one doesn't have a Valkyrie as the main character (unless I'm thinking of the PSP sequel?), but having no real experience with the series, I care not at all. I hear the first one played like Vagrant Story, so that's cool...idk if this one will be like that one though.

Dragon Quest IX: Protectors of the Sky - March 2009 (J)/TBA 2009 (NA) - The DQ series has never let me down. It's always had great gameplay and has also had some great characters. This is shaping up to be another great installment & looks just great too. I also just want to know what's up with that train that's circling that tree...I mean, seriously...wtf?? >_>

Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride & Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Reverie- I've played a tiny bit of the SNES DQV and think it's great. The remakes all look amazing as well.

World Destruction - TBA 2008 (J) - The team that brought us Chrono Trigger, Xenogears & Xenosaga (among others) is at it again...I really like the stuff Masato Kato (scenario writer) & Yasunori Mitsuda (composer) bring to the table. Should be another hit RPG.

Blue Dragon Plus - Feb. 24, 2009 (NA) - I never played Blue Dragon (another game by Masato Kato), but wanted to...and now that it's got a sequel coming to DS and that it's a SRPG, I can't wait to try it out.

Knights In the Nightmare - The 3rd game, but the 4th installment of the Dept. Heaven series which includes probably my favorite GBA RPG Riviera: The Promised Land & the similarly interesting Yggdra Union: We'll Never Fight Alone. So far Sting! (the development team) has given us an interesting take on an RPG and also a SRPG.

Ahh, so those are the games coming out soon. I haven't done much homework. I only know of the Dragon Quest V & VI and Chrono Trigger, which I am definitely looking forward to. I'll be researching the other titles and see if they are of any interest in me, but so far after a quick search in google, World Destruction, Tales of Hearts (the trailer is pretty nifty!), and Knights in the Nightmare looks promising.

...How many Tales series out there on the DS anyway? I just now found out about Tales of the Tempest but I heard it isn't that great. I've only played Tales of Symphonia and that was on Gamecube, which I actually quite enjoyed.

Edit: Nevermind. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tales_(role-playing_game_series)

Jeez that's a lot. Mainly looking at the ones for the DS though.

Making Wikipedia hyperlinks where the name is specified with parenthesis you either have to use the url tag or fool it by deleting the last letter and then making the closing parenthesis & then re-writing in the last letter (I suggest the former)...

But, anyways...yeah, quite a series, but it looks like most of them haven't made their way out of Japan...I wonder if this one will...Also, there's a few other games I didn't put up because I figured 1) everyone knew about them & 2) the next person who posted would list them...but here goes...

Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days - TBA 2008 (J) - I don't know much about it because I don't really follow the KH series, but apparently you play as Roxis or w/e his name is and there's a lot of multi-player functionality as well.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time - Jan. 29, 2009 (J) - A lot of my fellow Chrono fans were a little disappointed that "Echoes of Time" wasn't a subtitle for a new Chrono game, but I knew better...The last FFCC game on DS was a decent action/adventure RPG title...if they've worked out some of the kinks, this could prove to be another great addition to the DS lineup.

Final Fantasy Fables: Cid & Chocobo's Dungeon - I know even less about this series than I do about KH. TBH, it sounds like some h-doujiin beastiality title to me...but w/e...I hear fairly good things about the games, I guess...maybe I should give them a try sometime...*shrugs*

Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales - The Witch, the Girl and the Five Heroes - Dec. 11, 2008 (J) - Okay...I thought Final Fantasy IV: The After - Return to the Moon was going to be their hokiest title to date...looks like it just got bumped...

Harvest Moon: Welcome to the Wind Bazaar - Dec. 18, 2008 (J) - I actually lost touch with the Harvest Moon games early on (SNES)...I tried one of the DS ones and just thought there was too much going on for a farming/dating sim game for me to care about...Maybe I was too quick to judge though...

Mega Man Star Force: Black Ace & Mega Man Star Force: Red Joker - Nov. 13, 2008 (J) - The 3rd installments of the Star Force series (which is an offshoot of & plays similarly to the Battle Network series)...I expect more of the same and that's not too bad of a thing, really.

100 Bullets - Q1 2009 (NA) - Based on the bitchin comic series that follows the actions of various people who are given a free pass to kill whoever they want with 100 untraceable bullets. I can't wait to see how this translates into a video game.

Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon - Q2 2009 (NA) - The first Fire Emblem game finally makes its way to English speaking shores with this DS remake. It features the first multi-player functionality of the entire series and should be another badass entry in one of gaming's best SRPG series.

Duke Nukem Trilogy: Critical Mass - Q2 2009 (NA) - Hey, it's Duke Nukem...but how well will it play on DS?

Duke Nukem Trilogy: Chain Reaction & Duke Nukem Trilogy: Proven Grounds - TBA 2009 (NA) - Same as above.

I knew most of them, and I have hopes for Phantasy Star Zero. But I didn't know that they were releasing a new (well... old for Japan) fire Emblem game! I'm a huge fan of that series.

Theres afew games there I know Imgunna want.....I'm gunna be so so very skint. Im especially looking forward to the KH ones, and I might give that PS one a bash aswel. Never palyed the originals so Im used to the DC/PS versions of the games

Also DQ. I loved VIII

I've been watching Chrono Trigger, Tales of Hearts, Dragon Quest IX, Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia, and Tecmo Bowl. The upcoming DS lineup is looking extremely strong. Good time to be a DS owner.

Of course, there's Kingdom Hearts 358/2 days...but that one's a ways off, I imagine.
