First of all, I express my gratitude to whoever participated in upgrading the shoutbox. However, there's one little thing that's getting slightly irritating. Suprise surprise, given who's posting, eh? :wacky:

Since the upgrade, the length of time taken for the shoutbox to declare you as 'idle' has decreased - it can't be anything more than five minutes. This isn't really a decent length of time to tell if you're idle or not - for example, I didn't have anything to contribute to the conversation at one point tonight and so I waited until something popped up, where I could participate. The bloody thing told me I was idle ... no wonder no messages appeared for 20 minutes or so. :P Even just popping down to the toilet and back, I seem to be frozen out really quickly.

Basically, is it possible to increase the time taken to become idle on the shoutbox? If so, can we increase this, if only to 15-20 minutes or so?

Oh wow, I had the same kind of problem. I was paying attention to the Shoutbox while typing up an RP, and one of the times I checked back I went idle without realizing it. So I missed out on a chunk of the conversation without even knowing it! :|

Yeah, I'd suggest an increase to 10-15 minutes, for convenience.

It's illogical to allow the shoutbox to refresh for a user who isn't using it, even if you are simply oggling current conversations.

However, I'll bring this to the attention of LG. The time allowance might've been an automatic setting.

Oh, well we aren't the only two that's having the problem. I asked all of the other people that have been using the SB for the past couple of days and they had the same problem in terms of going idle when they didn't really mean to, or sommat.

When actually using the shoutbox at the time of entering idle status?

Well, sparingly. Like people would be participating in a conversation and go off to make a post or something like that, then come back and not noticed that they have idled for a couple of minutes. Granted, I don't know the idle timer settings, so they might have made multiple posts or just one big post, but I think everyone is just used to being able to go do something real quick, then come back and be able to jump right back into the conversation.

I don't think it's a giant problem by any means, just something that bothers our more active SB users. :P

We're still using it, we're just not necessarily participating in the conversation. You become idle, even if you're just sitting there, watching what's going on, ready to type, you find that you're phased out and it's just irritating really.

Cheers, though. Even if it's just extended ever so slightly to 10 or 15, it'd be much better.

I don't know about extending it to such an amount, as I'm unaware as to whether this version's refresh feature tolls on the server as the last did. If that is still the case, then it'll just be around 5-7 if we push it.

There is also a new feature right at the top of the shoutbox if you're idle, you just click it and you're back into the conversation. I'm sorry, but I don't see how this poses such a huge problem. I've gone idle rather often in the shoutbox since the upgrade and I just click the "click here to un-idle yourself" option and I'm back in the game. Like Smith said, it could just be an automatic setting that can be changed. The only one who can fix that is Lord Golbez. There's no use to continue complaining. Smith and I can't do a thing about it.

We weren't complaining, we were having a discussion.

But thanks, Saix. Let us know what Golbez sayz. :)

I remember changing this to 900. Perhaps you had the problems before I changed it. Is this better now?
