Class War

You don't honestly think the Mage would continually use Osmose do ya? It'll use spells such as Petrify which decrease your opponents Speed by 200. After that much reduction, the warrior won't have enough turns to keep up with the healing.

My vision for the stats of a decent mage are: High MP, MAG, EVA and SPEED. If you increase those often, Warriors don't stand a chance.

I would seriously like to see a Warrior try and deplete a mage's MP. A warrior doesn't have enough Magic to deal sufficient damage to a Mage.

Osmose blade :D

Seriously though, a warrior has combat skills which can give them an edge over mages stats, maybe the RPG mods will make one to increase dextirity, speed or evasion? Maybe even an MDEF boost to make your spells meager.

And after casting petrify on you they could cast haste on themselfes. Then just for fun it could cast bio or another nasty spell on the warrior and finish him off in 5 rounds tops.

Anyone who as played the last RPG understands that being a warrior will not do you any good.

In the last RPG mages had a serious advantage over warriors. In this one that has been altered to give warriors an advantage. With a high MDEF the warriors could minimise spell effects and damage. Maybe armour will be made that could possibly nullify it's effects?

Yeah...no high MD will protect you from spells like meteor, giga flare, bio and so on.

But you will probably learn that at your own cost.

C'mon Jimmy, even as a warrior in the last RPG I made it through okay. A few 'magic tricks' won't always save you, keep in mind that this RPG is new, you don't know what Julius and co are going to bring in next.

I haven't seen enough of this RPG to come to a conclusion about Mage being better than Warriors. So far, Mages ARE better.

Making it through the game whilst being a warrior is piss easy. It's the PvP that counts. Just remember, you have to actually hit the opponent to acquire ADR first. What if the Mage had high EVA?

Yes but so does magic, the only difference being that a mage can technically be outlasted as ADR can be replenished.

That is, if the warrior can consecutively hit the mage enough to get their ADR to the necessary level. ^_^

Then the warrior could use berserk, either from their own magic or from an enchantment to boost the DEX of their attacks, then following up with attack of the warrior for loads of damage :D

And even yet, the Mage could cast a maxed-out haste spell to counter the warrior's berserk. If the spell is cast by a weapon, the bonuses might even be greater for the mage.

I thought this was to organize the Class War, not debate on what's better. :P

But to use Berserk, it requires MP, AND a turn. In that extra Turn, the Mage could say...cast a speed reducing spell. Thus getting ANOTHER turn. In which it'll cast a powerful spell. You must also remember that you can stack spells. Like Giga Flare then Warp then Meteor.

But that is what makes these fun. :D

Also consider that weapons are made more for warriors, certain enchantments and item boosts may offer some handy stats to turn in the warriors favour.

@Gabs, that depends on one key stat: SPEED

I'm talking about when you reach a certain level. Everyone increased their speed to 300, around level....120+

I never did at 97 and I doubt it would have been at 120. I am just too much of a powerhouse who ends up a mage without realising it. I have no idea how but I end up the mage and my pet ends up as a powerhouse.

But by the time you get to Sephy, most of the enemies have 306 Speed. In which they get the first turn. If you don't increase your speed to the max then you are foolish. It's pretty useful for PvP's see?
