Well, he did manage to not die while getting beaten up in order to achieve Trance. Other than that, he's feared because he has resources, and through manipulation and careful planning, more often than not, complete control of the situation.

Well, he did manage to not die while getting beaten up in order to achieve Trance. Other than that, he's feared because he has resources, and through manipulation and careful planning, more often than not, complete control of the situation.
He also withstood Bahamut's attack on the Iifa Tree, laughed it off and made it out only with a scratch.
Which has been said a million times now...although people STILL prefer to say he dodged the attack. Um...he got hit head on. Watch the FMV:

As you can see, Kuja and his dragon dont even move until the explosion has smacked them right in the face.
Exactly. I dont know how people can deny something directly shown in the game, does fanism blind them THAT much? Kind of sad...

There's also the fact Kuja beat the party once with one attack, then in the next fight it was arguably another victory. Afterall, while he was beaten, he killed them all. And then to even show how more powerful he was even on the verge of death, he saved them all from Necron.
There's also the fact he doesn't need emo party leaders who he can mind control to help him execute his plans. The entire party did everything for him and handed the ultimate power to him on a silver platter.
Perhaps if Seph gained some intelligence, he wouldn't lose to Cloud anymore.

Um, excuse me, but have you even played the game? Kuja's in his 20's. And i don't know where you got preteen from anyway, nobody in the game is a preteen. Zidane and Garnet are teenagers, Vivi and Eiko are kids, Amarant and Freya and Steiner are adults, and Quina...well...nobody knows.

Kuja wasn't more cruel than Sephiroth, ok (btw, since when is cruelty the measure of how good or cool a villain is?). He didn't like dirtying his hands, so he used others. But he's shown that he is quite strong, and when he enters Trance, most likely the strongest being in the FFIX universe next to Necron (and Ozma, if he's considered storyline cannon and not just a superboss being there for the heck of it). Also, Kuja did much worse than Seph. Because of him Lindblum, Alexandria, Burmecia, Cleyra were all destroyed (and the combined destruction of Burmecia and Cleyra nearly cause genocide of the Burmecian species. Then, when he entered trance he destroyed Terra, at least it's surface, with the only genomes surviving being him, Zidane, and Mikoto (yet nearly another genocide).
...but I'm sure my post won't matter much if you keep up this attitude.

As a staffer, I will ask you once and only once to stop trying to pick fights with the other members, Rogue. It is obvious that you are intentionally waving a large flag that begs others to look down upon you. Infractions are most likely to be handed out for trolling unless you grow up a little and get back on topic.

To be quite honest, I can safely say that Sephiroth's overconfidence was a factor that led to his downfall. Those who have seen Advent Children may agree with this statement. It's predictable with most villains that if they take the time to reveal their oh-so-evil plans to those who oppose them, then the plan is more than likely to fail because they took the time to talk and talk and talk instead of just killing their opponents right then and there. Not sure what that has to do with Kuja being better than Sephy, so I'll move on to another point.
Agreeing with Aztec and VengefulRonin on an earlier topic, both of them are indeed rather devious and very manipulative. Sephiroth manipulated the main protagonist. Kuja manipulated the mother of the main female lead. Both of their targets of manipulation had (at one point in the game) something that the main villain wanted. Sephy manipulated Cloud to get the Black Materia. Kuja manipulated Queen Brahne to (I assume, though am probably incorrect) lure Garnet closer to him so he could extract her Eidolions. That wasn't the extent of their manipulations, but it still gave them access to greater power. Which one was better as far as manipulation goes? You decide, for that's a matter of opinion.
As far as dress goes...if those huge shoulder guards weren't there, I'd try to nab Sephy's jacket. Beyond that, he seems pretty...typical, as was said before. But take a look at Kuja <= here (Picture found on Wikipedia). I've heard that the Japanese version of Kuja was actually a woman, though her gender was changed in the translation due to her attraction to Garnet. (In other words, censoring homosexuality.) To be honest, I kinda believe that rumor since that would explain the appearance. Beyond that, I'm unsure.
...I guess I don't really have much of an argument, but reiteration seems better than just making a warning. I like Kuja's character better than Sephiroth's character, but that's just a personal preference.
(Oh, and just because I can correct you YF-23, all of the genomes survived because they were evacuated on The Invincible thanks to Zidane and his party. They were brought to Gaia and left at the Black Mage Village to live there.)
