Aussie gamers wait til '07 for FFXII

Final Fantasy XII to arrive in Australia early next year, preceded by Dirge of Cerberus this November.

 Square Enix fans in Australia are used to waiting months longer than Japanese and US gamers to get their hands on the publisher's latest titles. Now with the highly anticipated Final Fantasy XII, it's going to be same-old, same-old for gamers down under.

While Final Fantasy XII for the PlayStation 2 will be released in the US at the end of October (after having been available in Japan since March), Australian retailers won't receive the game until early 2007. Ubisoft is distributing the title down under and has confirmed that Final Fantasy XII will be released in Australia, New Zealand, France, Belgium, and the Nordic territories including Iceland no sooner than next year. Ubisoft did not disclose a specific date.

Ubisoft is also distributing the PS2 title Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII in Australia. Dirge of Cerberus was released in the US in August. An Ubisoft spokesman told GameSpot Australia that Dirge of Cerberus, which follows the adventures of Final Fantasy VII character Vincent Valentine, is set for release locally in mid-November of this year.

The last Square Enix game Australians waited months for was Kingdom Hearts II. The Disney-infused role-playing game was released here on September 28, which followed the US release by six months and the Japan release, in December of 2005, by almost a year.

WoW!!! Never thought Aussies wait that long for thier Square Enix games! Now I knwo why many go to piracy from the US! They probably cant wait for FFVII coming out just in time for christmas 2006.
 
YAy if Australia is getting it then we europeans should get it a day or two later than you guys ^_^
 
..Most people knew we were getting it due out next year, March I think it is. I do hope we get it before the Australians (No offense), because otherwise I will get very angry.
 
I didn't realise people would be so touchy over that, but I'm entitled to say what I like, I made no offensive comments, I just wanted it before any other country got it, I don't want to be waiting any longer then any other country. Probably because I am more obsessed with this game then anyone else.

We're getting it in Feb of next year, so you'll be getting it around that time. If you have to wait longer then us, then you're just being unfair. But don't get all touchy, you won't be the only place waiting longer for it.

I guess when I said Australia, I meant to include other countries too.
 
So when do the Europeans get it? I mean, we hardly get mentioned with this kind of stuff.
 
Someone told me today it comes out in the UK for the 23rd of Feb.
