I thought I'd bring this up again, as I thought it was a good idea. I'm not sure who suggested it (AG?), but whoever it was should get credit for it.
Anyway the idea I'm proposing is the one in which we would have guides for the new members, and there would be some sort of interaction between new members and said guides to try and get them off to the best possible start on the forums, by basically answering any questions they may have and easing them into the forums.
I can't remember what was said about this last time by the staff, so what do you think?

ok how about this i am starting it in my group i am hoping it will hit it pretty good
apprenticing you know where someone who has a good sence of the site helps out people with a lower understanding of the site and rpg

Hmm, which are we talking about here? The "Clipping of wings" or the "Buddy System." As far as I can tell, there was a lot of suggestions offered in that thread. I still don't know about the clipping of wings...I guess it might be a good idea.

But I'm really up for the Buddy System idea. I'm sure there are a lot of us here who'd volunteer.

Yeah, it's the buddy system. Where the new members PM one of the guides/ buddys and any problems try and get resolved that way
Any word on what the staff are saying about this, or aren't we allowed to know yet?

I'd be willing to help. I've had assistance from the mighty Bustamo in the past on some noobish questions I had. He was very helpfull and I didn't have to post it up so everyone could see how much a noob I was. Nowadays I've got a solid grasp of things and enjoy helping others (in the Rpg) or otherwise navigate there way around.

see we already have it set up we just need to get it more vocal and stuff and i thinkit should be the clans that do it cause they have the most experience at it and a more arranged form then an entire site

We don't have the system set up yet, we just have people who let new members know that they're there incase they need any help. This method would a little more, fo want of a better word, 'forceful' for the new members to ask for help.
And I don't know why it should just be the clans who would do it. There are a lot of members who I can think of that barely use the RPG who would be perfect for this sort of thing

well cause clans work together alot and thus get experence on when to help someone and how to help them so that people don't just get through proplems but teach them how to play.
believe me just getting help would not be their idea of fun cause they will just give up over time like lupidvoid did (not on the site anymore cause got unteaching help)

Fair enough, if the member wants help with the RPG, but what about for the main boards? What if a member from the clans can't help, because they're so limited (not in an offensice way)? Members who know their way around the entire forum are going to be needed, or at least the majority of it

there is a simple way to fix that just get a help clan set up (a clan made t help anyone who needs guidence) and have it require a lot to get in it.

Yeah, and that's what I'm proposing here. There will be a list of members who are there solely for this purpose, but may I ask why they are required to be in a clan? There are plenty of people who don't use the RPG who would be suited to this.

NON_RPG-

Agread totally. I don't feel there should be a clan for that purpose. If someone wants to help out new guys they should just be assigned to that new member (if need be) and then help them in anyway to go through the main boards, sub-boards, questions whatever. This could be done via pm's at anytime.

RPG-

As far as the Rpg it could work the same way as per request. Which is something anyone can ask anyone else while out there anyway. Being assigned to someone in the Rpg could be frustrating on the new persons end if the person thats supposed to help them is not out there at the same times. So if there is assigned people to help certain others (in the RPG) the assignments should be based on a time when both can be on.

you miss understood me the requirement is to get into the clan and it should be high to keep the noobs from going off spouting non-sence

Well that's just defeating the purpose. I don't see how that will solve the problem at all. The point of this is to help the members, not cut them off altogether.

Personally, I don't see how anyone would need help navigating their way through the Forums, I had absolutely no experience of Forums before I joined a couple of months ago and I'm sure there are lots of Members here who are as active as me now (if not more active) who joined with no experience aswell. However, if people are needed to help, I volunteer now, I would be more than happy to take on a more active role in these Forums

Well there are people who have problems, hence the suggestion I made. How many times have you seen a thread where a member is asking for help on a small issue (sig or RPG related for example)? Some people can pick things up quicker than others, and this is designed to help those who can't.

Okay, maybe I didn't get my point across aswell as I thought I did, yes, some people get a grasp on some things quicker than others and there are alot of Threads with people requesting help on small things that an active Member would be able to help with, I agree
