Does anybody know what this is?? I've been searching for years and cannot find a thing. I even forget how I got it?!! 20211007_035412.jpg20211007_035425.jpg

This is definitely a card flash drive of some sort. Have you tried looking to see what was on it? I don't see anything online about FF12 having anything like this, so maybe it's fan-made?

Also, welcome to the forums :flower:

I have never seen this piece of merchandise before, but to me it looks like some sort of card-sized USB flash drive, as Miko says.

Is this a single item which is flipped over with different images on each side (Fran and Ashe)? Or two items of the same sort?

As for where you could have got it from, I have no idea! Have you attended any gaming conventions over the years? Any launch events? It could be something celebrating the game’s launch (or even the Zodiac Age’s launch, but it doesn’t say Zodiac Age anywhere). That’s if it is official. It could even be a custom-made one you might have purchased somewhere online on a site like Etsy or Redbubble, etc.

Hey guys, thanks for replying. I don't really even know where to put it? In a USB port? I would love to know if there is any info on it. I've never been to a Final Fantasy Convention. I know I mostly buy Collectors Editions, but I remember buying FF12 and this DEFINITELY did not come with it. I've been wracking my brain and have not found a THING about this card!!LOL!! I have always bought stuff coming out of Japan related to Final Fantasy or other games....I know I have had this for 12 years. Anyway, the search continues! If you have any ideas let me know! Again, thank you for replying and the nice welcome as well.

Thanks for the welcome! Should I try putting this in a USB port? If you have any ideas, please let me know! Again, thank you!

Sorry, yes, it is a single card with Ashe on one side and Fran on the other. The Flash card part swings open then closes flat on the card.

I've merged your posts for you.

Thanks for the clarification on that. That's interesting that the drive-maker has paired Fran with Ashe. You'd have thought that Fran and Balthier would have been the more natural choice, with Ashe being better paired with Basch instead.

If you've had this for twelve years already then this is too old to be associated with Zodiac Age and is therefore to do with the original version of the game. That's interesting. This is the first I've heard of this piece of merchandise. If you don't remember buying it and you haven't been to a convention / gathering where this could have been given to you, is it possible that a friend/relative/acquaintance bought this for you as a gift?

I'll have another dig to find out more about it, but maybe some of the avid collectors on this site would know a lot more than me.

I believe it should work if you plug it into a standard USB port. These credit card shaped drives were designed to be transported like you would a card in your wallet. The idea being that it would be easier to carry them that way and they are less likely to fall out of your pocket, etc. If this is about the same size as a credit card then this could be of that sort.

EDIT:
This might help you with plugging it in with more confidence, since it is likely to be significantly thinner than a standard USB.

I can't believe you found a video already and I've been trying for YEARS!!! When I put it in a USB nothing pops up. I'm dying to know what is on this now! I might just go to a computer store and say "Find out what is on this and I'll pay you!!!"

I have to say, I'm definitely curious. If you do discover what is on it, I really do hope you let us know!

It might be an empty drive, which would still be a cool thing to own, but if it does have something on it then you can bet that there is a chance it could be something rare/unusual (that's if it was a promo drive and not a fan-made custom device).

And no problem about the video! There aren't many helpful videos out there, but that was the best I could find. And most of the written instructions simply say "plug it in", but with it being so thin it is much better to see it happen visually on a video, otherwise people wouldn't feel as if they could trust it.
