*FACEPALM* What ever happen to freedom of speech? I don't know how things are in other parts of the world, but in the US people do have the ability to do what they want as long as it isn't breaking any laws or infringing upon another person's rights. There are a lot of things that I don't like that I deal with in life. I am utterly disgusted by extremely over weight people wearing attire that would make me want to throw up. You know what though? I don't run up to a store manager ,or that person, and tell them that the person/they should change their clothing because it's bothering me.
Take media for example. Both MEN AND WOMEN are constantly falsely represented, over-sexualized and etc. Take Kratos.....a lot of the time he's a half god on a raging spree, but he doesn't represent all men. It's completely fine to see violent acts done to men in media (e.g. a Super-hero movie), but put a female in the same situation, and it's all of a sudden a problem? I don't understand why all these double standards exist. The thing is, if such media was being proven to be the root cause of crime rates rising, then I could understand that. That hasn't been proven yet to my knowledge. Here's the thing with entertainment media I wish some people would get. If you don't like it, you do not have to spend your time on it. Not everything is going to be catered to you. That is why there is so much variety in the world. If you really want to make some changes, get into a position where you can actually do things your way. An example would be becoming a game developer or a movie director for example. If a person wants to cosplay as a certain character, they should be able to do it. If I want to go out and write a story with all minority ethnic people in it, I should be able to do it. If the next person wants to eat cheetos until the end of time, they should be able to do so.
My rant is over.
