Zidane is my favorite FF character after Sephiroth <.<
he is a special Genome. Garland has created him in Terra with Kuja, and made them the more powerful Genomes to realize his known dream.

Zidane is not from Gaia, he's from Terra, so he's not exactly human. But he's not a monkey. He was created as a "vessel" that would pick up from where Kuja left off after Kuja died.
