First of all, sorry if there is already a topic about this, remind me please.

Anyway, I think that Zidane's story on this game brings a lot of expectations, I mean, I played this game for the first time when I was 9 or 10 years old, I could barely understand the dialogue by that time (I am latin by the way). And now, I started the whole game again and began to understand better, but it really left me with a "wtf" on my head, they could've actually added more story to this one, I found it pretty interesting the fact that Garland was his father and that Zidane was the perfect genome that would bring Garland's plan to a success.

I think that by so far, Zidane's has the best story above all the other FF's.

I definitely agree. Zidane wasn't an emo douche or nothing like Squall or Cloud. He seemed too carefree at the beginning, and maybe immature but as it develops you realize he is partially doing what he does and acting as he does for the good and concern for others. Great personality, and just as good background.

And when you said, "they could've actually added more story to this one" did you mean to say "They couldn't have actually added more story to this one"? Cuz I'm not sure what you meant. Haha.

er frist of all garland was Zidanes creator, not father lol..that would just be freaky o_O
and secondly Zidane was created to be an angel of death.

I like you, played it at a young age and found myself not completely understanding. when i played it a second time when i was slightly older i found it amazing.
I actualy thought the story line was really good, and dont think it needed adding to - i especially loved the twist when Zidane trys to rescue Kuja. however found the ending a bit meh :/ i think they could have made it a bit better. Zidanes personality was awesome and a change from the withdrawn serious characters in previous games such as squall and cloud. Infact a lot of what he said often made me laugh xD

anyways, i agree that the game was absolutely fantastic. its one of my favourite final fantasy games ^_^

Well yeah, creator lol.

Anyway, what I meant by adding more story is that they could've added some flashbacks of Terra, because I found that this is a planet, and it must obviously be something big in the game's storyline, Garland's plan of uniting Terra with Gaia to create the new Terra was actually from a long time ago. Garnet's story was alright to me, because it wasn't something big, but Zidane is the key in the story.

I agree about the ending. It appeared to be rushed and kind of clumped. When they were reunited, it was cool but I don't know... It felt lacking, somehow. I also wished they would have elaborated a little more on how the other characters were doing. They did it a little, but not enough to really satisfy my curiosity.

Zidane's story was really great. It is a great twist that during the game we see him as a Protector and then we find out that he was created to be a Destroyer.
I think his story is a little to Cloud's.
The part about being created
. Both have great story in my opinion.

But I think Zidane's was better because it always looked like he is friendly and trusting, but it is revealed that he isn't really that much trusting in his friends.
I really didn't expect that.

Zidane's story was really good, yeah. My memory is kinda vague right now, but I also think they could have added more, not in the terms of flashbacks, but they could have done more with it I guess.

Love Zidane's story. It was rather deep and unique and it had great plot and turns.
Guess it proves to people that people may be born into a tough not so great family background, but it doesn't matter because if you take the right path in life. You will have a amazing destiny and happiness in your future ^^

It proves too that Friends, Family and incidents in life can also help shape and influence your future, in a good way and bad way..

Yeah Zidane's story was a great one. It was a little dark & depressing though..

zidanes story is truely fantastic but its not the only one..... viv's story was that he was found in a egg and was raised by a quan(or what ever they r called).being so young he found a chance for some excitement in the city. there he met zidane and went on an adventure that changed his way of life.he saw how he was created, saw his orgin, but as well learned his fate and learned his destiney.and dont forget bout the other characters.... they didnt have a longer or better story than zidane but remember how all their story intertwined with one another in memoria

I thought it was a very interesting story, and I really liked Zidanes character as a whole. As others have said it was a refreshing change to previous protagonists.

Showing that you have control over your own destiny was important to Zidane and helped him into understanding and recognising who he was. I think that he was epitomised by his tagline "you don't need a reason to help people" which was enhanced by his boisterous attitude coupled with his positive attitude.

It also ended happily ever after (for Zidane and Garnet anyway) which I'm always a bit of a sucker for! :noemon:

i found his story very confusing at first, but that is because when i played IX it was my first Final fantasy and so i didn't really have much of an idea of how the games played out, but upon playing, i found it to be very interesting...he seems to have such emotion, and longs to find his past, and thats why i think it drags you into the story, because you get hooked and want to want him to find out his origins so to speak.

I thought Zidane had an awesome backstory, and I thought they handled it well. It was such a crazy plot twist in the game, when I played it so long ago. I don't know if I could call it the best, but it's definitely up there.

By the way, does anyone else find it funny that Zidane's story and even the whole tail thing are kind of like parallels to Goku?

Zidane's story is a very interesting one. FFIX is the first one I played so I guess I view other FF protagonist as being different than Zidane. I believe that Zidane is, however, one of the best protagonist in the series. As others have said they could of added more at the end of the story. Some more of a conclusion would have been nice.
