Zelda: Phantom Hourglass

Well, this is a fairly new game, and I only bought it the other day. I haven't played much of it, but enough to get an impression of what it's going to be like.

The graphics are really a low quality version of those in Wind Waker and, as I'm sure many know, PH is meant to act as a sequel to this long-since-released game. However, the graphics aren't really a downfall, since the D.S. is only capable of so much. In that department, it looks promising enough, but one thing really doesn't...

So far, while the gameplay has been like any other Zelda game, I've found the controls to be highly irritating! You can't use the D-Pad, or the A/B/X/Y buttons. EVERYTHING is done on the touch screen, which makes some things (I EMPHASISE ROLLING AND SOMERSAULTING!) highly difficult. It's different, and makes use of the aspects of the D.S., but I would have preferred the option to use L or R to roll...

Either way, I'll comment more on this later, when I'm further into the game.

Seen it advertised and been 50/50 with it. I wasnt impressed with Wind Waker and it just seems like that but you can interact with it.


And its just been on the TV lol!

I bought it on Friday here in UK and it's quite good so far. It's a little on the easy side when it comes to dungeons, but not too bad a game. Not the best Zelda handheld (that goes to LTTP....or original handheld, which should go to the Oracle of Ages/Seasons). For a Zelda game, it's fun, and that's what matters. I like the improved sailing method which is so much better than Wind Waker. Haven't got too far into it (right now am trying to get the scavenger line thing). I'm enjoying it more than Minish Cap though.

I haven't played the game yet, but I've mostly heard good things about it. A little short and easy according to rumor, but a quality Zelda game nonetheless.

Ive bought my girlfriend this game with a DS for Christmas, hope she likes it, if not I know I will.

Whats wrong with the DS? I have never played on one but I reckon that the DS would be good.

Look to me to be a way for Nintendo to get the casual market playing more traditional titles. The rumor that it's easier is probably true - you want to ease the new player into the Zelda world without scaring them.

This might lead to more traditional gamers being put off. But I'm quite looking forward to getting my hands on it eventually, hopefully sometime next Easter when I've put away some cash.
