When i first heard about Yoshida P directing the new FF14, i thought he was wasting his time...but he really worked hard to make FFXIV into the FF that truly lives up to the name regardless of it being an MMO.

But throughout the the past interviews, he also had the charm and charisma to tell it how it is and also find ways to get fans excited about FFXIV:ARR without sounding like he's showboating.

but in this recent article: SIliconera - A Focus On Graphics Killed FInal Fantasy XIV. Here's How Square Enix revived it he shows the strength and weaknesses of past final fantasy and even claims to be ahuge FF fan ( i believe him).

Yoshida P also proves that he really understands the consumer and puts top priority to that unlike Kitase who has stated in the past that he ignores reviews. And Motomu Toriyama who simply makes up excuses. Heck he was able to turn a flop into a huge success

So i'm glad he's earned his seat in the new Final Fantasy committee but here's the question: Does he deserve more? To me, he's the only one stopping me from sending hate mails to SE at the moment because i have a huge respect for him and i rather see more games from him rather than kitase and motomu toriyama.

What do you think? do you think Yoshida P gets the common FF fan? Do you think he deserves to be higher or possibly lead final fantasy into a new direction?

I think he sounds like he knows what he's talking about to be honest. Anybody who admits that too much focus on graphics is a bad thing, deserves at least one high five, plus that picture at the end does it justice. Why is he the only one stopping you from sending Square hatemail? Lol

because he ahs a a chance to kick SE into the direction where Fans can be happy about it.

Yoshida is a god, plain and simple. He should just be promoted to CEO, the company would be more streamlined and disciplined if he were. I have a feeling he'd get Nomura to focus less on runway clothing and more on directing to, because Nomura is a fantastic director, he just has poor time management. I mean, Yoshida pumped out an oustanding videogame in 2.5 years!!! It's just unbelievable what this guy managed to accomplish. :)

Yoshi P is the devil. He bypassed everything that made FFXIV a ff and turned it into a generic cookie cutter mmo to attract the masses. To be fair, he had to, ffxiv was so far in the red that anything short of a smashing success would have been severe financial devastation to SE.

That being said, when you compare vanilla FFXI to FFXIV:ARR, it's not even close. FFXIV you level up. and an alt job, then specialize. Rush to the end and raid. That is the absolute worst way to go about a game, and what ruins it's ff likeness. In ffxi, there were TONS of things to do before you hit 75 and started end game content. You didn't just have your job and subjob, you also had skills. Switch weapons? You don't know how to use that weapon! Don't break out your ranged weapon in 20 levels? You're gonna suck with it! Not to mention random elements like fame.

FFXIV is simply to guided. It holds your hand and walks you through. There's insatnt travel, the world is small,a nd using a controller absolutely blows. The battle system is a button mashing game putting it easily into the srpg class and not in the jrpg class, and srpg's don't interest me at all. I tried, I put in a years with ffxiv from it's first beta of 1.0 to it's 2.0 launch, and saw it take a turn for hte worst every time. THere's no adventure. There's no role playing aspect.

I could go on for volumes, but seriously, no one wants to hear it because "omg ffxiv is teh best!!11!! raidtiems!". Screw that, i'd rather have a world to explore, not plug in, kill ifrit 3x, and log off for the night.
