Well with the new Wankverine & the X-Men coming out, we'll have a total of three X-Men cartoon series out there.

The Animated Series and Evolution were both quality shows with great points. The Beyond Good & Evil storyline in TAS was amazing. Evolution had a new slate and direction to work with in terms of characters and storyline and they adapted it all very well.

So, discuss what you thought of the two that came before and what your predictions are for the upcoming show.

My thought is...well..Evo Rogue was the best thing out of all the series.

Hey whats up? I dont think we've met yet

X-men and Evolution were among my favorite shows growing up in PR, along with Johnny Quest. One thing i noticed in Evolution was that Rogue & Gambit weren't together romantically as they were in the X-Men cartoons, Rogue didn't possess super-human strength, or fly in Evo, not to mention everyone had been "dumbed down" a bit in Evolution(which defied the original storyline, and is what i mean by dumbed down). Never the less both were great, but I prefer the classics :D.

I LOVED both X men cartoons, I liked how they did the Dark Phoenix Saga in the original series, and I just found evolution to be entertaining.

I had no idea that there was going to be yet another X Men cartoon series though...

I thought Evolution was ok...They basically took a hunk of the X-Men & turned them into Generation X...I don't know why they didn't just do a Generation X cartoon (maybe because the old live action made-for-tv movie was so horrible?)...Jubilee, Husk, M & Penance...! ^_^

But, anyways...A NEW X-Men cartoon? Cool, I guess...It'd be awesome if they were adapting the Ultimate X-Men storylines...but certainly that's too badass for Saturday morning kids...but if they made it into a direct-to-dvd movie like their last few Ultimate-centered movies it could work...!

X-men evolution was pretty good, but nothing will ever beat the original 90's X-men cartoon, that was THE best.

x2.

The original series is the basis for most of my knowledge on the X-Men universe and I always found it quite entertaining. The Dark Phoenix Saga was just sex.

Any details on this new series, perchance?

Weird...idk what it's going to be based on though...I saw a LOT of Mutant crossover there...Domino & Wolfsbane...Maverick (makes sense since it's Wolverine & the X-Men, I guess...)...but I also saw what looked like Polaris in a Magneto helmet? It also looks like it's based on more recent continuity since they've got Emma in the lineup...but it also looks like they're going for underpowered Rogue (lame)...since I see her running from a robot and also needing to be saved mid-air from Angel...Although last I remember from current continuity Rogue some weird **** was going on w/her powers, so maybe that's accurate...

Whatever it is, it looks interesting.

Yeah, I heard about this, and banged my head for half an hour at the mention of the show's title. As if Wolverine isn't over-exposed enough as it is. Now he gets to LEAD the X-Men and take away Cyclops remaining aspect, that was already destroyed in the films? Geesh. At least the premise is completely amazing - so I'll definately be watching it and give it a try, though I'm not a huge fan of the Evolution animated style either.

Wolverine is getting the lead in the new series becasue its going to start airing early next year, around the same time as X-Men Origins: Wolverine hits theaters... so you see, like X-Men Evolution, this new series is capitalizing on a film... thing is that this time, its a Wolverine movie.

It's annoying how it's called "Wolverine and the X-Men" he isn't even the team leader in the movies, or the comics, Cyclops is, and he always has been.

I know you said it's coming out at the same time as the Wolverine movie but...meh, Wolverine is being whored out way too much.

Although, I find it funny that the yellow spandex is back xD

Technically Xavier was the team leader in the beginning...Cyclops was just, like, field commander or w/e...but that's splitting hairs, I know! >_<

Wolverine's probably one of the more qualified to lead the X-Men, I guess...but you'd think either Emma or Storm would be better choices over Wolvie...Since they've both also taken leadership roles within the X-Men before...And cause they both sexier! :P

Maybe it's less a "Wolverine & the X-Men" thing because he's leading & more because that way they can focus on pure Wolverine storylines if they want to instead of having to incorperate the X-Men into everything, yeah? Like how Wolverine's had his own comic and done tons of non-X-Men stuff (besides joining the Avengers...but, hey, Beast did that before he did!...>_>)...

Yeah, I know that the overall reasoning for this series Takk is to capatalize on the new film, but that doesn't make it right at all. As Aerith and I stated, he's just being whored far too much. Give one of the other X-Men a chance! Like I mentioned, the overall concept is really strong, so I'll be watching, I just hope that it's not just 'Wolverine, Wolverine, and some friends every other episode'.

One other thing I do like about this is that we're getting post-Jean Cyclops, and we'll get to see his development from the bottom back up into a team player, and then someone who could possibly lead once more.

Well since the movies sorta focused around Wolverine and that he's getting his own movie next year as well as being the most popular charcater with the casual X-Men fans then it's no surprise that he'll be the lead here.

I would mark out for that so badly if they did do that. As long as they just did the stuff leading up to and including Return of the King, everything after that's been pretty rubbish.

Return of the King? What was that? I'm on like Volume 16 here in the UK. The start of the Cable business.

Lol. They are really awesome, though like Scrutator mentioned, they do verge off quite sharply into 'mediocre' around half-way through, though some great volumes crop up every now and again.

Ugh. It goes Charles > Scott > Ororo > Everyone else > Logan. :gasp:

That annoys me. It looks quite shabby as well. The only good point to note is that Steve Blum is reprising his role as Wolverine's voice actor.
