I haven't approached the Final Fantasy's you like. IV, and VI. Just the other ones. Are they in the year 1990's or 1980's correct?

Yeah. They were in the early to mid-90's. I'm also overly-fong of FFVIII and FFIX, though that is most likely because they were the first FF's I have played.

As for why I didn't like FFVII... The characters were particularly uninspired, the story a direct rip of FFVI with a retarded captain planet knockoff screwed into place, And it really didn't revolutionize anything. Yes, it was the first FF in polygons, good for it, just too bad other RPGs had already covered that ground and not look like Legos.

Toooo many spin offs of FFVII already...seriously.... FFVII is overrated. Don't get me wrong. It was a good game. But we already have enough spin offs.
