Well Im going to start to play FFXI i havent played a FF game since FF10( I kinda drifted into war games.... >_<) So i actually dont know what to expect from this FFXI. Ive read about it and researched the basics. But I really want to get a players point of view. Also. ( this might sound pathetic) but i'm also looking for some friends on here that can mentor me thru the game. i dont know what server to choose? Will i get to play with ppl that got the expansion pack if all i have is the original. Should i get all the expansion pack at once and start like that? SO CONFUSED. :blink::blink::blink:
So if u guys can give me some info on the game and what servers to look into il super appreciate it.

In order to play it online with the PS2 you will need the PS2 HDD. Also I'm not sure whether the FF11 online service is available on PS2 anymore, especially with the advent of the 360 release.
 
o so my best bet is to get the pc version... but i heard rumors that it won't work if you have WINDOWS VISTA. on the game and the first 3 expansion packs. is that true?
 
you can still play FFXI on PS2(I do daily, and have for years). PS2 players still make up a large number of the players, 360 users being a very small percentage.

But in order to do that you would need an older model PS2 not the slim, so PC is the best bet.

Ahh thanks for that I wasn't sure it was since most PS2 online games seem to of bitten the dust. Also I'm sure the expansion packs are all available seperately for the PS2.

Also I'm just wondering does the PS2 version have the subscription service in order to play, like the PC version does?
 
all 3 versions share the same servers, same fees and you can get every expansion no matter what system you choose to play on.

I got a question, im probably going to start playing this on my 360 and I want to know How many expansions are out that Id need to buy or can I just DL them off xboxlive , and is there anyway other than paying with a creditcard? like a pre paid game card? That would be sweet, i dont see why they wouldnt have those.
 
- theres are currently 4 expansion packs.
- You can pay with any card that has a visa or mastercard logo(including prepaid or debit)
 
in pre paid i mean game cards like wow has where you buy it for like 30 bucks and you enter the code on the website and it activates your subscription for 2 months at a time

You can easily go to places like walmart to buy prepaid credit cards that will have as much money on it as you put on it... if you are under the age of 18... should ask your parents about getting you one... its pretty simple...

o another question are the ways you set up parties similar to WoW, like you need a tank and healer for every group and such?

I just use a debit card. Basically it's a Visa card that only works off the money I load onto it. I can't spend money I don't have and so it's completely safe, also there's no interest and if anyone ever did hack your card they could only draw out the total of the money you have on there, so the idea being you just put on the exact amount you need to spend each time you use it.
 
I'm also gonna be getting back into this game. I'd also like to know if there is a server I could join where I knew some people and could get some helpful info. Thanks in advance :)
 
Hey I have a question if anybody would be kind enough to answer :)

Does anybody know if the HDD comes with FINAL FANTASY XI Vana'diel Collection for the PS2?
