Is BBS worth getting for someone who has sort of lost touch with the Kingdom Hearts series and may have forgotten some of the more complex parts of the story?

Is it even worth getting as a game (are the gameplay/controls any good?)

I might be interested in getting it if it generally seems popular!

Thanks.

Well, my impression is that it's one of the better games in the series. The combat had alot to offer. Each character has there own battle stats. Ven is really quick and has some epic combos. Terra is really strong but his combos are rather slow. And Aqua strength and defense are lacking, but she makes up for it with really good magic. The story for each character will keep you intrigued and the characters overall are, in my opinion, well developed. If you want to get into the development of the game, the graphics are amazing for a PSP game. If you're naturally picky about little things (like I am) then you may notice places here and there where they cut corners but it really won't bother you. Also, the voice acting is amazing. Leonard Nemoy is epic as Xehanort. He really brings out the sinister tone of him.

As far as disappointment goes, there were a few things but nothing major. One thing that bothered me is that I was hoping that each character was going to get their own special keyblade for each world. Instead, each character gets the same keyblade, they're just different lengths depending on which character you're using. One other aspect that got to me is that I was hoping the armor you see in the trailer was going to be special, like some kind of overdrive thing. But, the only times you ever use it is on the world map and when you're in the Mirage Arena. And the last thing that got to me is the load screens. They're not super long or anything, but they kinda fuck with pace of the game. You'll be watching a cutscene, then they'll go to a flashback at which point the game loads. It's nothing major, but it can get annoying.

So, that's my opinion. But, when it comes to games, it's best to take what other people say with a grain of salt and just experience the game for yourself and make your own judgement. Have fun dude.

Great, thanks for the informative review, I've seen a copy on ebay, I think I'll chuck a bid on and see what happens!

And yeah, the one thing that has annoyed me most about the PSP is the rather annoying loading screens, either being long or popping up in awkward times (the games I've got do anyway...) I suppose it's just something you have to try and ignore!

i personally thought the loading times were great compared with the original load times without the 600 meg intallation trust me i mean just to D-link was like a full 10 seconds of them standing there doing nothing but touching there chest looking up with light around them it was soooooo f'd up

also loading took like 5 minutes compared to the max of like 1 minute with instalation and that was the minimum so don't complain it could have been worse like super crap graphics (points to re:coded) but considerably short loading times or they could have done the proper thing and put it on PS3
