Why do so many people dislike FFX?

he might of been a "whiny little bitch" but no matter how cool you think you are. If that was you, you'd feel the same way. i'd be scared and just wanna go back home. And if you deny that then you are a liar and trying to be a hardass. Tidus was a very common everyday guy that was thrown into this huge problem to fix what his father couldn't. It's a great story and very well written. Somethings I didn't like but oh well.

Now what I really wanna see is a FF game where you play as the evil character and lvl up with his allies instead of fighting for good. Kind of like in Chrono Cross you got to play as the bad guy for half the game.

Without a world map i think this game was abit screwed from the off but it did feel alot more like a journey which was the point of the game rather the a big mess of back n forth.

its only since ive just started playing FFX11 that ive realised what a bloody gem this game was. i think it was a pretty boss storyline n had characters to match.

I think people hated it cos it was abit too different and some that voice acting was murder, Wakka's "yaa" nearly turned me bald.

I liked Wakka for the simple reason that his voice actor is the same that does Bender on Futurama, so everytime I hear him talk I think of the beer guzzling Bender. It would be funny as hell to hear Wakka yell "Bite my shiny metal ass!"

The characters killed FFX for me. I couldn't stand Wakka or Tidus, and I just didn't give a shit what happened to Kimahri or Lulu. Auron and Rikku were cool, and Yuna's grown on me, but that's not enough to save the game for me.

Whether or not I'd act the same way in Tidus' shoes doesn't mean I want to actually see the main character act like that. Cause.....I don't. I told myself that many times, but I just still find him irritating as hell.

I wasn't thrilled with the story either, I just didn't find it very engrossing at all. And I truly didn't care what happened to anyone or anything save Auron, Rikku & Yuna at the end of the game.

I've played it more than once to see if I'd change my mind, and to give it more than one chance, but I still just........didn't care. Nothing pulled me into the story, and I think that's what bothered me the most about X. I can't even say I hate it, I just don't care about it. It's just sorta............there.

I did like the Sphere Grid system though.

that's one of the things that made him so memorable
LOL, I gotta agree with what Zidane said about that. It really did make him more memorable to me, but in a very, very bad way xD

i think that this was the second best game of the series but i can understand why some people hate it. The only bad part was the grid id always forget it an id end up in a big battle an die because i forgot.

The people that dislike FFX mine that thay never played the game befor in there life.

:rolleyes:Mabey not a lot of people didnt like FF-X because it was very un-traditional,to the FF franchise.
it included....
-AMV's for the first time
-real voice acking
-there where some huge glitches(lol i got all the sphere's filled befor the first boss fight.)
-yuna had bad hear and tidus was blond and smart i dont get that(lol jk about that last one)
-and they added a bunch of new wepons and ungrades to the game it was new imposible to beat it with 100% done )even tho i beat in in 48 hours with every thing and unlimited gil)

FFX is not bad but not my favorite FF.Actually it is pretty low in my favorite FF-list whic goes:
1.FFVI
2.FFIX
3.FFXII
4.FFVII and FFIV (cant decide)
5.FFIII
6.FFV, FFI,FFII and FFX
7.FFVIII
and the worst shit ever is FFX-2 which I always ignore.

What I didnt like in FFX well I tell you.
1.Battle system. It was okay but it made game too easy, first time I died was inside Sin to a normal enemy and this game was also holding players hand while FFXII was better because it was harder and not being so helpful as FFX.

2. Peoples outfits. They all look like transsexual in Zanankard and most peoples clothes are really weird and Tidus and Lulu both have very inconvinient outfits. FFXII people had better looking clothes except Vaan and Penelo.

3.Tidus. He was okay at the times but I hated that he always cried or complained if things didnt go as he wanted.Freaking wussy you cant always have what you want.

4. Stupid Minigames. Blitzball was stupid and boring, too many rules and numbers.

Unlike others I liked the voice acting of Tidus but lip sync was crap. FFXII world is also better than FFX: FFX dungeons were usually just one screen while FFXII has much bigger areas. And races are cooler in FFXII.

FFX wasn't the first FF game I played but it was the one that kept me paying the longest, I don't like the way people use the sequel to degrade FFX because as we all know, FFX is the much better game

To me, it was a let down. The story telling wasn't as "rich" as some of the earlier ones. If they had to make Tidus"gay" they should have made him gay. Except for the blue thing(I cant think of his name right now)with the broken horn, and Tidus being smacked around when he was a kid, none of the other stories of the characters pasts were that interesting. And WTF is a shoopoof?

i don't mind this game, i thought the storyline was pretty good. But, it seems a lot more easier than previous Final Fantasy games.

Final Fantasy in my opinion is the best Final Fantasy out there it was the only Final Fantasy good enough to have a second game* Which wanst that good*.

But Final Fantasy has a great story its not complex but it is well sorted and good ploted.

This Final Fantasy is beyond great.

i liked it. the storyline was good nad it kept me hooked to the playstation 24/7. the only thing i didnt like were the side quests. the sphere grid was good to, but i like the levelling up better.

wow who ever says this FF sucks is on drugs this is one of the best FF stroylines i think it well put together

If they had to make Tidus gay? Wtf are you talking about? o__O And he was never smacked around as a kid, just ignored and called a crybaby. And you called Kimahri "the blue thing"...wow...at least call him a lion, and he didnt have anywhere NEAR as interesting a past as Auron or Yuna or Wakka. And i thought the game kinda shows you what a shoopuff is....did you even play this game? o_O

Anyway, I used to think of the storyline as rather simple and the character development lacking...however after playing it three times (even though i thought it inferior, it's damn fun), i've come to realize that it's actually pretty good. Not only do we have the surface layer of the story (a kid getting thrown into a more primitive future) but we have the Al Bhed, who at first are seen as nothing but enemies, but are later shown to be the subjects of religious persecution. Then there's the whole Yevon thing, which is much like a parallel of the Roman Catholic Church, and then finding out about Tidus's Zanarkand just adds an even more traumatic element to the story. It's actually probably one of the best Final Fantasy stories written.

As for voice acting...well...yeah, most of it is pretty godawful. Auron and Wakka's voices suit the characters, but Tidus's voice is just to whiny and prepubescent and as for the rest...they're kinda odd. Rikku, Lulu, and Yuna's voices are sometimes really good, then at other times they're as bad as Tidus's....and Kimahri, well, he hardly talks at all so he's not a problem.

someone who REALLY knows what they're talking about. I totally agree.

In my opinion, FFX is the worst FF in the series. I am angry that people like it, because Square-Enix found alot of people DID LIKE this game and ended up keeping the bad aspects that older fans hated and new fans loved and changed for the worse imo.

FF1 all the way up to FFIX had a similar, great battle system, and the way of levelling up was just fantastic. It fitted in perfectly. A good levelling up system to say the least.

FFX completely changed the way you level up and this pissed me off the most. I didn't feel like i was in charge of my character and didn't feel like he/she was powerful.

I mean, say i brought my FF7 characters from my PS1 memory card into FFX (if it was possible) and fought the same monsters we were facing in X, i'd beat them in SECONDS. It was too slow , sluggish and boring leveling up in X. I got bored of the game halfway through because of this.

The battle system was the worst one too. Summoning a monster......*sighs*. Say Infrit for example, he would stay and battle for you. *shakes head violently* THATS NOT WHAT SUMMONS WERE SUPPOSED TO BE FOR ORIGINALLY. As you know, you were supposed to summon up a monster/god and it would attack the enemy for you. Apparantly, Square-Enix had very serious conversations over changing the battle system, but they let the decision go ahead.

They've definately took a turn for the worst, and i was looking forward to FFXIII, but now it's going to be the same as XII:mad: I just want the RANDOM BATTLES and OLD LEVELING UP SYSTEM BACK.

Dude, you have to accept change. Yes the old leveling up system is great and all, but the sphere grid, IMO, is a very interesting way of leveling up. It gives you a lot of freedom. You can make your characters whatever you want, and if you're up to the challenge you can make them total pwnage and have them fill the grid completely. Yes, this takes time, but if you find and area in which the enemies give a lot of AP and even have the more AP ability in your weapons, it gets way shorter. But this is not even necessary to beat the game.
As for the summons, I think it's awesome that they act more like characters than just spells, and in this game it makes perfect sense, since they play such a vital role in the story. Plus, you can always dismiss them, you know.
As for FFXII, I don't know about that because I haven't played it.

You're actually angry that people like X? Dude, thats not cool at all. I dont like XII but i dont get pissed off at others for liking it.

And wtf are you talking about not being in charge of your character or them not feeling strong enough? O_O Sorry to be rude, but are you out of your mind? This game introduced the break damage limit and break HP limit, you can go past 9999 damage and HP in this game! That's FAR from weak! And as for being in control of your character, you have as much control over your character as in other other games, if not more, since you can take every character over others grids. And the battle system allows people to go at their own pace, if they want to go fast they can, or if they want to take their time they can.

Um...summons attack the enemy for you in X too...attacking or battling the enemy are the SAME thing. Only difference is the summons last longer than one turn (geez, you musta hated it in IX when Garnet's trance had the summons appear every turn). And why the hell are you complaining so much about summons staying for longer than one turn? Like Summoner Yuna said, you can dismiss them after one turn if you want.

I dont even wanna know what you think of XII, since you can fight together with the summon (which i thought was pretty damned cool).

I might as well throw in my two penneth.

I thought X was by far the weakest in the FF series, which means it is still one of my favorite games of all time.

What I didn't like....

1) For me, I didn't like Spira as a world, it was just too damned colourfull and samey.

2) Too depressing, but not in that cool way that VII was dark. The whole premise was just.... Ohhhh doom and gloom.

3) The characters. Tidus needed a slap ("HEE HEE HEE HEE"...WTF). Yuna's self depricating, "I just wan't everyone to be happy" attitude. Wakka's racism and religious misdirection, Kim's one dimensional personality "Me help Yuna... grrr". Rikku's straight rip off of Yuffie. On a plus side, I loved Auron, who ranks as one of the best FF characters from any in the series. And I thought Lulu was brilliantly realised as a character.

4) Sphere grid. Oh my god, another battle and I have to mess around with a stupid move and press a button mini-game that has no concept of realism (I know, It's Final Fantasy, but you get my point).

5) Voice acting... I shall say no more.

6) Mini games... Hey pressing "x" 200 times in sucession when the screen turns white! Wow, genius, I think I have just travelled back in time to 1978! On a plus side, I loved blitzball, only wish they could have padded it out a little more.

There are also a lot of reasons I love X as well but as that's not the topic of this thread, I'll save them.
