Why do 'family' films always seem to be tearjerkers?

Iv just watched some film about Mars, not sure what its called but there was a death and some dude left in a spaceship to go....somewhere....it wasn't even that good and I still got choked up haha

Then theres Bambi, Iceage, My Girl, Casper the sodding ghost off the top of my head.....the majority of these stupid films just make me cry. Is that the aim of the film makers? Too make small children cry?

Or maybe Im just soft haha

Do you consider yourself small? :wacky:

Neeway, dunno, some movies just touch you in the soft spot, for me those are war movies :D where this one guy willingly dies to save his friends or something similar... Those get to me sometimes... :neomon:

Oh lord, I know Bambi seriously scared me as a child! I know I was like six or seven when I watched it and I sobbed. Poor little ol me. When Bambi's mom bit the dust, it was just soo sad. That's why, to this day, I will not go deer hunting with any of my red neck relatives. I won't kill Bambi! :O

Anyway, I'm not sure why all the family films have to be tearjerkers. Pretty much all, that I've seen, have been. XD I suppose some people like to cry? Or sad stories have a deeper impact then happy ones? You'd think people would want to watch something happy rather then sad.
