Who here actually mains Bartz

So yea, I was wondering if there are any Bartz mains around here, seeing as how he lacks the popularity of other characters, and doesnt have anything that makes him unique(other than teh GOBLIN PAAAAUUUUUNNCCHHHHH!!!!!!)


Also, is it okay if I made a guide for him
 
Well, I made a Near-Death build for my Bartz, he starts off with 900 HP but 5000 BRV and 1 Slidehazzard and 1 Holy-Flare is enough to kill any opponent. Slidehazzard is a very epic move. Really liked FFV, that's why I got my Bartz to 100.
Holy spamming is a great strategy too :grin:
 
I'd like one.Do you think it would be good for a EX setup build? I don't get how to OHKO an opponent like that though.
 
i think that bartz is really underrated, he is not really weak in any one area which makes him a good all round character, and final fantasy 5 was popular too so it is hard to understand why nobody likes him. however saying that i liked ff5 but i didnt like ff12 and i use gabranth as my main now haha

I think trying to one hit ko with Bartz is a horrible idea, since he has combos that can deal hp damage in a row, and attacks that deal easy hp damage. This is especially true for a EX build, since you get the goblin Punch quickly. Just remember that you dont want to make EX last longer, but instead get to EX faster
 
I kind of main Butz (sorry, not used to Bartz). I mainly use him when I battle my friends since I've managed to level him to 100 and master all his attacks and abilities that I have equipped on him. Paladin Force is the best, ever. |D

As for Holy spamming, I prefer more to spam with Slidehazard. I rarely get a hit with Holy, maybe cuz I'm not doing it right, but yeah. I'd rather perform Slidehazard since I'm more of a charge and attack type. Strangely, I'm rarely defensive in Dissidia.

I'm playing the JP version btw.

I have the USA version as well, although I want to finish the JP version first. I still get beat at Inward Chaos, so I can't finish it yet.

Goblin Punch is alright, but it's very close-ranged, although it hits perfectly when you enter EX-Mode while you're being attacked and quickly execute Goblin Punch. I haven't used Holy in the USA version because I'm trying to master what I have equipped first before moving on to use the rest of the attacks. Maybe I'll try next time and see for myself.
 
Holy is quite easy to dodge though like all bartz's attacks. Flood and wind shear spamming is actually quite good against AI.
 
Flood and Wind shear are crap in the US version due to extreme range nerf

Holy is great against real people because of how it screws with their camera angle
 
I say Paladin Force is better that all of his HP attacks (excluding Flare, since it's only linked from Holy). It's mid-ranged, yes, but for me, it has a higher chance of hitting comparef to Flood. Wind Shear is easy to evade, 'cept when you're in a corner or something.

Correct, flood and wind shear suck. I find soul eater just as useful as paladin force however. While it doesnt have the tracking tha paladin force does, it has a shorter start up lag, so it can be useful for a surprise attack, as well as the fact that the slide hazard > soul eater
combo is easy to do
 
I main Bartz

I find that I get most of my wins off of Flare or Goblin Punch, but I occasionally win with Wind Shear

In order to use Wind Shear effectively, you have to be able to predict your opponent, keep a close eye on what tactics they employ, and when you know they're about to dash in, thats when you use Wind Shear, if you did it right, then it'll be too late for them to stop themselves, and they'll dash right into the attack

Remember, just because it got nerfed doesn't make it useless, no attack should ever be rated on its own merit, but on its place in that character's style, the tactical implications and options that it opens up, how it works with the character's other attacks
 
I find it useless becomes its completely useless in my Bartz's style and tactics. The fact that its punishable by almost anything keeps me from equipping it

EDIT: after some experimentation, Wind shear actually can become very useful in certain match-ups, however not as an attack, but instead a reflector

Soul eaters range is crap altough with spamming flood, against a slow opponent, you can keep making them dodge making them unable to attack you and activate snooze and lose. It works on AI. In a crowded area e.g. pandaemonium, wind shear can prove useful. I mainly use it to wait for BRV to recharge or to block stuff like lightning crest.
 
The other factor to picking your moves as Bartz is the additional attributes they award you, Wind Sheer makes you move as quickly on the ground as OK does, and thats very useful for numerous reasons

The only move I take purely for its additional affect is Solid Ascension, I've never used it on a human opponent, and only once or twice against the AI, but the fact that it stacks up with regular counterattack is epic
 
Its minor counter attack which is crap, much more useful to just equip normal counter attack

Solid Ascension is Bartz fastest brave attack, very dificult to block on reaction, and his Best ground brave attack. With crit boosts it does godly damage and its set up for holy spam, which is always good.

Even with the speed boost from wind shear isnt close to enough for him to keep up with OK. And its completely useless as most ground Bartz should have speed bost++ equipped which doesnt stack with wind sheer's speed boost.

Wind sheer is only useful in certain matchups as a reflector and never as an attack

Soul eater may have crappy range, but ground Bartz is meant to be played at close range

Flood spam never works on real people
 
1) The counterattack bonus from Solid Ascension stacks with the counterattack bonus from counterattack, you equip both, thats why its good

2) The speed boost from Wind Sheer does stack with Speed Boost++, and it does make you as fast as OK, we've tested this

3) I'm sure I'd like Solid Ascension a lot more if my opponents didn't love the air so much

4) When your HP attacks all suck, its best to have a lot of them because it keeps your options open, all of them work in certain situations and not bringing one will waste vital opportunities to win
