I have played the GBA version and I am thinking about playing VI again, there was a lot I missed despite doing a lot of different things. I have never played a turnbased RPG more than once before, so this will be a first and I was wondering what the differences between the PS1 and the GBA verssion...someone on another board brefely metnioned that for example on the PS1 you get a little more back story on Celes...anything like that true? I know about the few FMVs, but I was wondering more about content.

Thanks

I am getting the gba version of VI soon is it any different from the original Final fantasy VI? If so whats the difference? Are there any Secrets like hidden bosses or something? The thing is there is no voices.

Like I said, I think most of it had to do with story, small aspects...I know for example the quote about shadow "would kill his own mother for a nickel" was toned down...and apparently there was a scene where Celes was beaten which was removed from the GBA version

Ummmm....

The differnece between the SNES version and the GBA version are:

Edgar's line to Locke pertaining to Shadow is changed

In the SNES version Celes is struck a few times and chained to a wall during interragation. In the GBA version, she is neither. This change was ACTUALLY also present in the Japanese version of the GBA remake as well, which was pretty interesting when I heard it. Also, in the Japanese version, they used revised sprites for some of the espers which removed nudity found in the original Japanese version.

In the SNES version, there are monsters whos sprites were edited to remove smoke coming from Opium pipes. The smoke is there again.

Minor script changes. I mean, come on, we ALL knew the old man didn't really want Locke to deliver "cider".. lol. This just confirms it. Also, the Opera's dialogue is COMPLETELY worked over.

There is another dungeon called The Den of Dragons. And, if I am not mistaken, there is also a second optional dungeon you unlock after you beat the game.

Oh, and the sprites have been enhanced. ALOT.

As far as the PSX changes.....

I am not too sure. I think I heard about a few CG scenes,
and they explore Locke and Celes's love story a little more. Which I admit, they needed to in the first one. If you are going to have a love story to accentuate your plot, elaborate more so on it so it is able to do its job.

Hope this helped.

I've only played the PS1 version which is in the FF Anthology compilation, but I hear the GBA game loads a helluva lot faster than the PS1.

I mean I think it all comes down to personal preference on whether you like playing on consoles or handhelds better in this case. If you have both a PS1 and a GBA, go with your preference. However, I don't think for FFVI there is much difference if any at all in the game; not like FFV at least.

Well alot of the espers are naked especially Terra!!! Yeah and also the gba version looks better. I am supposed to get this game next week along with the guide book which hopefully will help me. How much nudity in this game compared to the japanese version?

I'd play FFVI on the PS1, purely because you can play it on a bigger screen and get a feel for it more than playing it handheld, although handheld means it's portable.

It's really your call, weigh up the pros and cons.

From Wiki:

PS1 FFVI:

Technically, the PlayStation remake is very similar to the original Super Nintendo version. Aside from the addition of a few new full-motion video cutscenes before the original opening and after the original ending, the graphics and sound are unchanged from the original version. Unlike the re-release of Final Fantasy IV in the Final Fantasy Chronicles compilation, the script for the North American PlayStation release was essentially left unchanged (gil remained as "GP", Ultima Weapon remained as "Atma Weapon"). The only notable changes to gameplay involve the correction of a handful of computer bugs left in the original game, and the addition of a new "memo save" feature which allows players to quickly save their progress to the PlayStation's RAM. Because of the volatile nature of the system's memory, memo saves are lost if power to the console is interrupted. Finally, the remake includes a number of bonuses, including a bestiary and artwork gallery that can be accessed from the game's main menu, and are revealed as the player progresses through the game.
