Where's the cicder?

I'm stuck in Locke's scenario. I know that I'm supposed to steal the cider from the merchant in the Inn above the pub in South Figaro. But I fought him now 4 times, steal always his clothes but don't get any cider (and I can't pick it up somewhere).
I'm pretty sure that it functioned the first time in the SNES-version but here I'm stuck

No. You get the Cider downstairs in the Pub in a small room where another Merchant is. You have to steal his clothes if you arn't already in Merchant gear (When I do it I tend to be in Soldier Uniform), and you pick up the Cider from the table after.
