When do you think the franchise will end?

I reckon around the year 2020 we will see no more Final Fantasy games or movies. The characters will become forgotten in the sea of old games.

The final fantasy series will never end. So long as there are loyal fans to the series (and there will be always) Final Fantasy will be around FOREVER!

I agree. They know a game and/or movie having FF in the title will sell by the masses. So why would they stop. Every generation of gamers know about FF and how grand most of their games are. So pple will always wait for the next FF project.

yeah even if they do stop making games or movies, i don't think it will ever be "forgotten in the sea of old games". its something like the star wars of video games, people will always be die hard fans and will always want more. how could the most popular and long-lived RPG series ever just be forgotten?

oh and back to the thread topic, i'm sure eventually it will come to an end, as all good things do come to an end. but as i said i think it will be loved and played for many, many years to come.

Well, FF VI, VII, VIII and IX hopefully made a massive impact on the games industry, and we will not forget about them easily, like pong, we can still remember it, (i'm not comparing FFVII to pong...)....also those crazy bastards at SE will feed the younger fans all this 'remake' bullshit, and probably by the year 2020 you will see Cloud and the crew starring in their own hospital/lawfirm drama, lasting 20 seasons......thats right milk FFVII dry SE.....

So you guys reckon we will see games such as FFL, FFC, FFD or even way forward to FFM.

I'm not really sure. I mean FF is still going pretty strong and as long as they keep producing quality games and maybe movies I don't think that it is likely to die down anytime soon. Now I don't see it lasting forever, but I can see it lasting throughout our time.

I've still got a good 60 years on my clock. You reckon that long?

NEVER!Hopefully

Next time could you try and put a little more thought into your posts please? Thanks.

I think that as long as FF makes money, they'll still make it. it'll probably only last as long as Numura (or is it nomuro?) and Co are still available.

But i don't think they'll keep numbering them forever, Final Fantasy XXII sounds stupid tbh. They'd probably name it like they have with Crises core and stuff.

I think It'll last intill everyone that has something to do with the production of it drops off the map. Unless the younger generation takes over.

I don't think it will last forever, nothing ever does...

However, I'm pretty sure it will last well beyond 2020. Sure most of the original designers that started it all will retire and leave the industry, but I think as long as they continue to inspire new game designers with the original concept of FF, it will certainly last a good while.

I can see the Final Fantasy franchise dying. Not anytime soon though, I think it would die within the next 40-60 years though. The way Squarenix is going now could get worse. The original staff members has left, or they are leaving within the next few years.

The games that are in development don't seem very promising to me.

It'll be dead for me if FFXIII sucks.
Also if they make another MMORPG FF, the series with die.

Same as everything, when the series being made now loses all their great developers and some new upstarts come along with better plots, characters, and adventurers. It's how it is with everything.

Their last attempt to keep the company alive really turned out to play to everyone's strong suites. Sakaguchi, Amano, and Uematsu brought us brilliant games for years. Sakaguchi was fired. Amano is slowly being replaced by Nomura. Uematsu left. I love Final Fantasy but the only reason they're still the top dogs is because of experience and because their competition is pumping out shit. Other RPGs are basically a bunch poorly drawn generic anime characters with ridiculously big tits or flamboyantly spikey hair running around a bland world with an extremely lame plot some pothead must have thought up between sessions of molesting neighborhood children.

Hmm...i've thought about that myself.I REALLY hope it never ends, though.I vowed to myself that I would keep playing FF until the day I die. ^_^

But like someone else said...good things eventually come to an end.
