Im seeing lots of people that are saying they are totally hyped for Versus and think it looks much better than XIII. But... isnt it a little early for that? We have little to no information on versus, just trailers full of random sequences and the general style of the game.

I personally think the style is interesting but im dissapointed that we have an all male cast, probably because the most awesome characters in FF have mostly been female (apart from cloud and auron).

I dont doubt this game will be great at all!, but really im going to save my judgement till we see some actual gameplay.

I can only tell you why I'm excited about it. The story line is supposed to be much darker. I know the previous games had their dark moments but the game in general is supposed to be a more mature title.
Also, BECAUSE there is so little known about it, the curiosity builds up and you get help but you get hyped up :D But that's just me!

Congrats on 100 posts. I'm 1 away :D

Yeah, I totally agree. Even though we don't really know if it'll be a full man cast. Maybe you play as one character or something.

I actually like FFXIII much more at the moment. FFXIII's character don't look much interesting so far and I can't say anything about the plot.

And all this "dark" story thing doesn't interest me even one bit.
I like dark plots when characters die and such, but just because it dark doesn't automatically make it great.
For some reason I doubt FFXIII Versus will be great, or at least I have a feeling I won't like it much.
Though, maybe it is just my way to make the game better.
Because I prefer to think the game will be bad-average and then being surprised if it great, instead of thinking it'll be great and then feel disappointed if it bad-average.

The bottom line is: At the moment, if I could get two FFXIII games, then I would choose: FFXIII and FFXIII Agito.

One big thing I've seen is that it's a nomura directed game, and there are a lot of people who apparently think a hack like nomura is a genius.

To quote myself from another thread -

Personally, I don't see why people are expecting much from these supposedly "darker" and more "adult" themes.

I don't have high hopes for having some truly "adult" themes coming from versus, at least nothing more adult/mature then your average M-rated games, which tend to not be very mature in first place. That and what we've experienced of nomuras stuff doesn't give me hope particularly because it seems to tend to try and present itself as being deep and meaningful when it's just not, and that just tends to make it even worse. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy it, but not because I feel it has much substance to it. The FF series (and most JRPGs in general) always seems to put the kiddy gloves on when it comes to the heavy stuff, and nomura is no better at it from what we've seen.

The closest I've ever seen a JRPG come to being emotionally moving or take on any particularly powerful subject matter was in Lost Odyssey in the Thousand Years of Dreams sequences.

I'm equally excited for both FFXIII and FFXIII: Versus to release. I'm a bit frustrated that SE would release all of these games as such but I realize that it's a marketing ploy and my complaints don't particularly matter. All I can hope is that all of the games in this new "series" are good.

Ah I can't really say atm but I think im excited for both of them. Final Fantasy XIII looks so :awesome: and so does Versus XIII! The Graphics are great! The gameplay looks pretty :awesome: for XIII. Still waiting on Versus battle system. Your never know what will happen!

It probably is too early for this much hype... but that's never stopped me from getting hyped in the past, haha.

This is probably right. We don't know that much about it, so the potential for a very good game is there. As more and more information comes out, it'll be met with "Yes, I love it!" or "I can't believe this is happening." Or both.
