What Just Happened?

I'm at the part in Midgar where you go to the second Shinra reactor. As soon as I enter the reactor room, Barret, Tifa, and Cloud spread out, Cloud falls on his knees, then on his face. The screen shades red, then goes completely black. Then nothing happens. the music is still playing in the background, and about every 10-20 seconds, the buzzing "no" sound effect happens. I'ts been staying at this screen for several minutes, so I don't know what to think. What happened? Is this intentional, or just a glitch?

Your playing on the Playstation right? Mine used to do that when I got out of the Mythril Mines, I think in my case it was over played, I just gave the disc a really good clean, opened the disc tray afew times and it eventually worked again, altho after every single fight it would do it again it got really infuriating to the point I just bought a new copy off ebay
