I didn't know whether to put this thread here but it is concerning Final Fantasy IX. So I keep my games in good condition, I'm ever so careful with the disks and I've learnt my lesson from when I was a child, just fumbling the disks in the cases anyhow, leaving them out, etc. So I've been so careful with my Final Fantasy IX and at the moment I keep getting a black screen. It happens at the beginning when you fight Baku, and he calls for the meeting, they all rush into the room and when the scene pans for the next room the screen fades and stays black whilst the music carries on. ;A;

I have no idea why it's being like this. I've looked and I can't see any tough scratches, my other games work absolutely fine (Keep in mind I'm playing it on a PS2.) I just don't get it as it was working fine the day before. Though I did play from Steiner's part, then I deleted the save file because I wanted to start again, and I have started again a little bit because of my stupid neat obsessive habit. ;A; Could anyone please give me any ideas on what to do?

Buy a new game? My FFVIII did the same thing I think I posted this in that thred to, I just bought a new one..If its not the wires or the TV I figured sometimes an old game just gives up and says "You played me to much now go get another one!"

Moved this to the FFIX Help Booth so hopefully you'll get more views and replies to help you out concerning your situation.

Here's some tips I found to work.

1) if you got the slim ps2 try gently tapping the top of it.

2) open and close the disk tray. If should restart with a reload from where it left off.

3) clean the disk by using a clean smooth cloth. Cotton works great.

4) get a new game, if its really hard to find try getting a new PS1/2/3/psp. If you go for the PSP or ps3 you can buy the game on PSN and it should never fail unless the memory gets corrupted somehow.
