What is this status effect!?

I'm playing through the mobile versino of FF4, and I'm in th cave (SPOILER AHEAD) (forgot it's name) after Porom and Palom turn themselves to stone. (END SPOILER). Now I somehow randomly have a strange effect on everyone except Cid. They all cannot move in battle, and it never ends no matter how long I wait. On the status screen, they have a lightning bolt next to them. Esuna cannot heal them. A tent did not heal them. How do I get rid of it!?

This sounds a lot like 'magnetise'.

It's a specific status effect for the part of the story that you are attempting.

Basically anybody in your party with metal equipment cannot take any action in battle. This can be fixed by removing metallic equipment temporarily while you travel through the cave. When you do this you should be fine, though it may be a challenge.

Ah, thanks! I just escaped every battle until I got to the dark elf, who was insanely easy. Heh. Didn't think silence would actually work on him ^^

I'm glad you managed to get through it anyway, by fleeing etc.

I don't think the game throws any surprises like that again, so you should be fine. Most status effects can be cured in the typical fashion. That cave just has its own properties!
