What does Christmas mean to you?

I have to admit, I am a bit of sucker for the presents side of things. I like to buy stuff and make people happy.

The whole decoration stuff I look forward to doing as well, makes your home a bit more cosy, and magical. I know it's a stressful time, but, when in life do we not have stressful times?

My mum always likes to take photos on the day, of me opening all my presents. She just really likes to see me happy, so apart from the spiritual stuff that we celebrate Christmas for, it is a nice time of the year to enjoy gifts, the food, and general atmosphere, and just be merry!

I hate to admit it, but it makes me think of presents, it's a little hard for it not to though when I get so many (got about 30 last year, going to be getting around 35 (mid-thirtys) this year. :D). XP

But I just love everything about Christmas, and the whole holiday season. All the lights, decorations, fun with the family, lots of great food and Egg Nog, and of course, lots of presents. :P

But I don't lose sight of what it really is celebrating, I just like all the fun stuff I get on that morning of Christmas Day, and some useful things too, like...clothes. XD

Fo me it means family-time,I really get angry when we don't eat all together that day(it happens sometimes),during the holidays is my birthday,Christmas for me is related to Christmas Carols and no school. Some times to my desire to snowy but it rarely snows here.
It's not really presents for me anymore,it used to be when I was younger, but receiving them or not won't make happy or sad. It's just temporary happiness,so yeah don't really like them but also depends on what they are XD.

Getting to act like a child again? I know I'm only 16, but over the past couple of years Christmas has become less exciting for me as I've become older (no shit!) and more aware of everything, so most of the magic has been lost. But I still get up at 6.30 and wake my siblings up because I can't get back to sleep, and then we sit around all excited waiting until it's a reasonable time to go and wake our parents up (although it's always still too early :wacky:) and go and open all our presents.

Family is another thing, Christmas is always spent with my (nuclear) family and we don't normally go out on Christmas, we stay in and watch films and play games, it's always really nice.

This is an interesting thread and one I wish I would have seen earlier. At church on Christmas Eve our pastor talked about how how Christmas was really two concepts combined as one... and compared Santa Claus against Jesus Christ. However, I find it interesting that Christmas is actually 3 separate concepts. 1) Celebration of Jesus Christ's birth, 2) Gift Giving as started by Saint Nicholas, 3) and the pagan Roman holiday.

That being said, I only find #1 to be important. No one has any real clue the exact date of Christ's birth but it probably wasn't even remotely close to being in December... but it is still the only part of those three traditions that have any personal meaning to me. I enjoy giving gifts and I certainly enjoy partying... but if it weren't for the first reason, the other two wouldn't really matter that much to me.
