What direction should Final Fantasy take now?

I guess what I want is simple in statement-

More immersive world with an "epic" story line. Epic (intended like the people who throw the word around- but as in Illiad or Odyssey), lots of side quests that not only give rare items or weapons but tons of back story to uncover through NPC's and towns. I don't care all about the flashy graphics or vocal acting, I might be ok with all text for gameplay, outside cg movies.

- I would prefer a game with lots of towns and lots of things to do with mediocre graphics over a game with sick graphics with simplified story line and linear gameplay.

I think that SE should go back to it's roots. Them changing the series for the new generation isn't working that well. The new battle systems, the new personality of characters, how they are now dealing with the summons, like making them airships instead of summons and the storylines. It all isn't working, because they are running away from the old format, and the old format is what the games great in the first place. They need to give us back the world map and the controllable airship and a battle system that's familiar to the old style of older Final Fantasy games. Give us back the Black Mage, the White Sage and the Gunner. Give us back what is old.
