were to get items for Masamune

Gemsteels can be acquired from certain materials. Montblanc also gives you one.
Mallets from..certain bombs. try the ones in Pharos.
And orichalcum. I think you can get it from one of the enemies in Pharos too. Possibly those face-like monsters.

I think you can also aquire Mallet from the horse-like creatures (not the ones that can teleport themselves).

yeah that's true you can get it from a Sleipner...

I thought you could get masamune by defeating Gilgamesh...? Or am i wrong?

You get one from Gilgamesh, yes. I believe another can be made, though.

Yes Montblanc rewards you with one after completing 'Battle on the big bridge' (Gilgamesh). You can however acquire one from the Bazzar. The second one is useful if you wish to defeat Yiazmat in under an hour.
