I'm baffled enough by this thing to not know what the hell to do.

A few weeks ago, my monitor randomly started turning itself off (it's got a button that glows green when it's on) while the rest of the computer stays perfectly running. I'm fairly sure it's NOT the machine itself because my second screen, my Wacom Tablet, which forms the second half of my shared screen, is working in perfect order. Now, it usually turns itself back on after I poke the button a couple of times...

Sometimes, the monitor will stay off when I start up the machine, but as of yesterday night, it also started turning itself off when I start to run a full-screen game. It's an adventure game that doesn't have insane demands, and yet the monitor physically shuts itself off, for some reason. And this time it won't turn itself back on when I poke the button, instead I have to manually unplug it and replug it in before I decides to stay on.

Now, I'm thinking it might be time to throw this junk of a screen away and get a newer one with a filter or something, but because I really cannot afford to just throw money away, I want to be sure that this one has really bought it.

It's a ViewSonic VA1903wb btw...

.____. any advice, anyone?

My monitor does that a lot, mainly because the cable in the back doesn't slot into it correctly and has to be pushed in every now and then. Anyways what I'm saying is, next time it happens check the cables

I have checked them. I suppose, to be on the safe side, I'll buy a new set of cables just to be sure... we do need a spare pair anyway, for emergencies.

Yeah, check the cables. Your monitor only displays from the computer. Doesn't matter about the computer itself. It's a separate piece of technology.

Yup, its the cables. Mine does exactly that too. I only have one convert cable, so I can't get another size. You could tape it shut by putting the table on the side of the machine and then run it under the cord to hold it up :)

also check your settings that it hasnt set it to power down your monitor after so long with out touching anything, does it happen when your using it? if it does then its not my suggestion
