i have one question. what in the hell was the point of making this movie?! i don't understand the story at all, it has NOTHING to do with the series, and it was complete crap. (OK IT WAS A LITTLE COOL, SOME PARTS ANYWAYS) but other than that, it was completely pointless! does anyone else agree?

Story's quite understandable if you watch it again. Basically mindless ghosts wandering the planet killing folk.

Decent wee cast, too (looking at you, James Woods, Alec Baldwin and that guy who's in everything from Armageddon to The Usual Suspects).

It's not supposed to relate to the rest of the series.

It's not bad for their first movie.

I can't say how much I loved this film. I don't think it's weird, for the contrary it boosted the elements present in next Final Fantasy gen of video games. The graphics and the story are great in my opinion! I wish it had more green spaces and they hang out more. At the end it felt little and with the feeling of wanting more 3 hours o_O

To be honest, I don't think they were trying to link to any of the other games or storylines. Since it was Square's first, as the topic of the forum says, photo-realistic CGI movie, I think they were testing to see if they could create a decent movie with the technology.

Then again, while that may have been the case, they may have slapped Final Fantasy on it because they knew people would flock to it when they knew it was a "Final Fantasy movie" rather than a video game with short in-game films, you know?

Who knows why Square made it. But I don't think you should condemn it and say it is total crap simply based on the fact it doesn't link to any of the games.
