Water Magick

You know know that I think on it, I think it was kinda dumb that you couldn't get the spells like Watera/ga or Aerora, but you could get a mote. Like others have said there aren't too many enemies who are vulnerable to water magic in the first place so I don't really know. I still would have like to have those Aero and water spells that's all I'm saying.

I simply don't think that lack of ability to use higher-level Water magick was that big of a deal. Were that many enemies vulnerable to water anyways? I don't think so, if I'm remembering right.

Besides, I don't know about you, but I didn't use a whole lot of offensive magic anyways, unless the fight was against Flans or something.

I get bored of just using attack on things, like to range my offense, use magicks quite often just to add abit more spice to the battles.

There's high level enemies weak to water that attack in numbers, like the Bunes in the Pharos, watera would've been usefull there, they only usually have "protect" and "haste" on themselves, no shell, so with using water magicks, there's no need to use "dispel" or "dispelga" which potentially saves you quite a bit of mana.

Same here really, unless it comes to enemies weak against Ice magic, like the Behemoths, or Flying enemies - I don't use ranged weapons at all, so I'm like, using Aga magics against flying beasties.

Yeah, I used magick against flying enemies until I got Telekinesis, then I for the most part put non-healing magic use behind me.

Though I do understand the desire to change up your offensive style, sometimes running and slashing gets a little boring...

Tbh i'm sure i remember an enemy use waterga on me in ffxii near the end. couldn't remember what one though
You might be thinking about Waterja from one of the Espers.

Couldn't get? I distinctly remember having Aeroga for the final battle. :wacky:

I think X is the only title that has allowed us to develop our water magic and I was surprisingly grateful for it - water tends to be about as strong as the -ara spells but is vastly under-used ... probably because they never develop any monsters with weaknesses to, or go on the offensive with, water.

He said Aerora, which you can't get.

I think the Water spell would have had more of a use if the Cloud Staff was available sooner. Unfortunately, by the time you can buy it, Oil + Firaga was a much better combo. The Cloud Staff increases water damage by 50%, which is quite a boost.

Its the same situation with FFVII - Aero 3 can only be cast by Rapps...unfortunate really, since the spell animation looks pretty cool, and magic had more of a value in 7.

Nah you can't buy it, neither is it on the License Board.

Another spell they missed out (which had its own element) was the Earth spells. Quake, Quakera and Quakega would be rather nice additions, but they weren't included on the License Board.....however like Water and Aero, enemies could use the spells.

Water magic wasn't really usful once the quickenings got high enough for torrent to be used, with that you don't really need water.

I thought that Concurrences were non-elemental attacks, even though they appeared to be. Am I right about this? (I certainly could be remembering wrong...)

It's right the official guide says:

"As with regular Quickenings , a Concurrence is a physical attack without elemental properties (though their names may suggest otherwise)"

Indeed ^
The official guide states that all concurrences are non-elemental. I myself remember using a quickening against Belias - I ended up using Inferno, and it dealt its regular damage.

Good thing, in my opinion. If those Concurrences were elemental, you could accidentally end up giving a boss a large chunk of its HP back. Wouldn't want that, would we? =\

I wasn't that disappointed. Because I never really used water.

I can't remember many fiends being vulnerable to water. :gasp:

^ That's because the second and third level Water spells weren't added. If they were, I'm sure more enemies would be vulnerable, and thus rendering the Water element useful.
