Yoichi Wada wants you to buy Final Fantasy XIII because, apparently, shipping 96 million copies of the Final Fantasy series since 1987 isn’t enough.

Speaking with Venture Beat, Wada says the success of the franchise is all in how it’s targeted.

“The strategy differs with each game,” he said. “This version of the game is the first one for this new generation of consoles. Our audience includes people who are just getting this new console now.

“We are targeting right in the middle of those gamers, which includes people who bought the consoles early and those who are just getting one now. Final Fantasy XIII is purposely going as mainstream as we can.

“Of all the games we have made, we put the most human resources into this one.”

FFXIII was released on March 9, and within two days it was revealed that it had already shipped 5 million units worldwide.

I suppose Versus will almost sell the same amount, maybe even slightly more cuz the game might attract adults and high teenagers.why im saying this is cuz it will be a whole new experience for the franchise. But for final fantasy XIII itself, the popularity of the game will last for years, but will always stay rare.
